RR statement
“I am proud of the dedication and commitment exhibited by the coaching staff and student-athletes who have represented the University of Michigan football program over the last three seasons. While I am disappointed to depart Ann Arbor before we were able to reach the level of success we had in our sights, I am confident that the players who remain have the potential to do great things and to return the Wolverines to greatness. I would like to thank our fans and our student body for their tremendous support. There is great passion for Michigan football and I have made lifelong friends through this experience.”

I have no doubt he will land on his feet.
Good Luck Coach
January 6th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
Best of luck Coach. I was hoping it would have worked out.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
I'll always follow Rodriguez, and wish him luck!!
January 6th, 2011 at 5:24 PM ^
Goodbye RR, goodluck wherever you land.....On side note, Has there been any info on keeping RB coach Fred Jackson? I would hate to lose him
January 6th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
If anyone has any connections or way to get this to Rodriguez, I'm sure he would appreciate it. These are amazing and come from some of the most die-hard Michigan fans.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
You want to send our ex-coach a internet forum of people saying "thanks and good luck"?
Or maybe we could all get him a card and sign it. Or all bake him some cupcakes. All these things sound equally as pathetic. The man knows there are fans that will still root for him. Suggesting sending him the opinions or random internet commenters makes me want to punch myself in the throat.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
Well shit man. Way to rain on my parade. I just made these all for RR:
Thanks asshole.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
to give you a +1 for that response. Well put. Sadly, point system not working currently.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:42 PM ^
I want so badly to eat those cupcakes right now. Oh wait, I can because I really did make them......
January 7th, 2011 at 11:51 AM ^
Could you email me the swirly one in the upper left corner?
Thanks.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:35 PM ^
I really wish I could neg you for being a jerk. This will have to do:
There is no need to be a dick to a fellow fan who is just making a nice suggestion. If that sort of thing actually makes you want to punch yourself in the throat, I feel sorry for you since I would suspect you lead a pretty miserable life. Save the angry comments for people who actually deserve them.
January 6th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
If RR really cares if UM_FANFORLIFE wishes him good luck he can read MGoBlog himself. I'm sure he knows how to use the internet.
The man just got fired. Suggesting that we send him a message board topic that says "thanks for the last three years" is patronizing.
January 6th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
Yeah, you said that before. I can read. I didn't say it was a good idea, I said it's no reason to be a dick. So next time, explain why it's necessary for you to act like a jerk.
January 6th, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
Why do you use the term "patronizing" here?
Your use does not comport with what I understand the definition of the term to be.
January 7th, 2011 at 1:52 AM ^
But your point total has increased by two in my mind. And whenever I see WatersDemos's next comment, I will think "ah yes, his point total is actually n + 2."
(given that n = Displayed MGoPoints)
January 7th, 2011 at 9:44 AM ^
I really think this guy was trying to ascribe more gravitas to his opinion by using the term "patronizing"; however, I don't think it works in this context.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
Please.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:53 PM ^
Why don't you guys all figure some way to send these comments to me, I'm sure I would appreciate them. These are amazing and come from some of the most die-hard MGoBlog commenters.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:59 PM ^
Sorry dude. You are not cupcake worthy.
January 6th, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
Douche chill! I want so badly to be angry with you but I have idea what the f- you are saying. Just know you are lucky as sh-t that voting is not working.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:06 PM ^
Not siding with Horace, but why is he "lucky as sh-t" that voting isn't working? Because otherwise he would totally get neg-banged and lose like all of his mgopoints??
We talkin' 'bout mgopoints. Let's get a grip.
January 6th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
before making such comments. . .
January 6th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
...caught a bolt of lightening...
...cursed the day he let it go....
January 6th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
Best of luck coach! I have always been a suporter and fan, and I can't imagine how difficult it is to operate when the whole word is against you. Let's hope that Denard and any relevant defensive players stay while Michigan football is in this transition period.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
Its to bad it didn't work out here.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:11 PM ^
Well said by RR. I wish him nothing but the best, as I'm sure most of us do.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
honorable and eloquent words. best of luck, coach.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:11 PM ^
Good luck RR. Kick ass at UConn or whever you may go.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
Go to Pitt! Go to Pitt!
(In case Coach reads this)
January 6th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
If he were to go to Pitt, I would be able to see a lot more of him than when he was at Michigan. (PA citizen right now). The bummer part is that I saw a story on ESPN (i know) that said Pitt was not including him in the coaching search. Maybe bad blood from the backyard brawl days? I also heard from a talking head that he might sit out a year, recollect himself from the abuse in AA and then move forward. Can't blame him there. The rumor mill out of Pitt is spitting out Tom Bradley (PSU D coordinator and Asst. HC) as the leading candidate.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
I was just putting out some wishful thinking. It'd be much easier to root for him if he were to go to Pitt. I'm surprised they wouldn't even consider him knowing that it would absolutely explode the minds of WVU fans (which is always fun).
January 6th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
If WVU fans had minds to explode.....BOOM, roasted.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:58 AM ^
Hurt feelings aside, RR and WVU were actually kind of good for each other.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
Yeah Rod isn't going to Pitt. Although Bradley is a good hire IMO.
What part of PA you from? I am originally from Erie County, then moved to the Harrisburg area, now I'm out in San Francisco.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:38 PM ^
Lucky you! I wish I were in San Fran. I am in Pennsyltuckybama. Small town close to NY border. Nearest city? Williamsport, PA (50 miles south) or Elmira, NY (40 miles NE).
January 6th, 2011 at 5:44 PM ^
Eh. San Fran ain't all it's cracked up to be. Everything is mega expensive, hardly any jobs, and it's almost as cold as Pa. Oh, and there's a shit ton of homeless people and hipsters.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
True. Low cost is an advantage here in Pensyltuckybama. No jobs here either, trying to move back to Michigan (I know, no job there either, but I have family and if I am going to be unemployed, at least I can be unemployed in Michigan and soak up the sport teams I love). I am surrounded by hillbillies, and rednecks that Rival West Virginia and backwoods Mississippi.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
it is freezing here today, I work downtown and walking from my car to my office was absurdly cold and I was in Chicago over Christmas and grew up in Michigan so i have thick blood.
January 6th, 2011 at 7:54 PM ^
January 6th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
Who you calling hipster, hipster?
January 6th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
And that's exactly what it is, woods and woods, with an occasional man-made building here or there. I think I remember a road or two as well, and lots of bears watching me drive past them.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:18 PM ^
That was my house! You should have waved!
January 6th, 2011 at 7:58 PM ^
a great idea to move to the sticks, right? I live in Pittsburgh low cost of living, great jobs, even better schools, affordable housing, low crime, hell we even have grocery stores. Keep your negative thoughts about the crappy area you live in tyo yourself, it's your choice einstein....
January 6th, 2011 at 9:00 PM ^
Don't they teach spelling and capitalization at these "even better schools?"
January 6th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
What do you do for work? Abstractor?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
I'm in the education field, preparing the leaders and legends of tomorrow.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:39 PM ^
Personally, I hope he ends up at Clemson.....would be right around the corner from me and they are on TV all the time here
January 6th, 2011 at 7:29 PM ^
What, did you used to play for RR at Glenville State or something?
