Can someone please explain to me why the repost of a Rivals Board post has proved a 100+ comment thread largely revolving around dedicating the author of the Rivals Board post, the author of Genuinely Sarcastic, and each other?

Like why so many people on this site still support Rodriguez. Guess you're stubborn enough to go down with RichRod's ship, if not this year then next year. They'll probably go 8-4 and get destroyed by Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, and OSU. And you guys would defend him.

People still support him because he is the coach at Michigan. Michigan fans support Michigan and RR is the football coach for Michigan so Michigan fans support RR. Even if you want Harbaugh it's plain to see that acting like a fool for either side is counterproductive. You can want Harbaugh and still support RR. I do.

.......you were never a fan of his to begin with. Much of the issues he discusses, and presents "facts" on, are cherry-picked to convince people of his way of thinking. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that RR is less "detail oriented" than Harbaugh.

In a post below I presented Stanford's penalties to-date, which is higher than UM's. It would seem to me that a detail oriented coach like Harbaugh would have his team committing less penalties per game than someone who the writer presented as essentially lackadaisical when it comes to game details, would it not?

If someone wants to portray RR in a less-than positive light, then they will find whatever damning evidence they can find to do so. Guess what? That doesn't mean that their view is correct. For example, the writer discussed the Pitt-WVU game when discussing RR's teams tendencies to fumble the ball, and implied that is the reason they lost that game. The real reason they lost that game was because Pat White was injured partway into the second quarter and they had no viable backup at the time. One fumble lost was on a kickoff return and another was on the backup QB, and both of those resulted in short fields for Pitt. If White doesn't get injured, WVU takes that game and the writer cannot use it as an example of RR's inattention to detail.

Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
A better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
Will slowly fade away

So I start a revolution from my bed
'Cause you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside, summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

And so Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger
I heard you say

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows, if it's night or day.
Please don't put your life in the hands
Of a Rock 'n Roll band
and throw it all away

Gonna start the revolution from my bed
'Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside cos summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as she's walking on by.
My soul slides away, but don't look back in anger
I heard you say

So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger
I heard you say

And So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late and she's walking on by
My soul slides away, but don't look back in anger, don't look back in anger
I heard you say

At least not today.

.......from Rivals, I have a few points to make.

1. Harbaugh has done a tremendous job at Stanford. There is no denying it, given their records through his tenure there, and the quality of athlete they have to work with. However, the Pac10 this year, outside of Oregon(and removing Stanford, as this is the team we are discussing), who beat them badly, the rest of the Pac10 isn't all that good, and their OOC included a 6-5 FCS school, a terrible WakeForest team, and ND. There is every reason to believe that if they played a B10 or SEC schedule that they would have had an 8-4 or 9-3 record. Not exactly great progress considering they had an 8-4 year last year with tougher teams to play. But, Yes, Harbaugh has been good for Stanford and if he came here, even with the offensive players RR has recruited, he could do well.

2. Speaking about academics, Harbaugh, in his own words spoke about the athletic dept. steering kids away from the tougher courses, and that was under Bo, and continued under Moeller and Carr. In order to stay "with the Joneses" of the B10 elite when talking about football success, it is necessary to do so by taking the kids whose academics aren't strong. Anyone who thinks that tOSU puts it's athletes through the tougher academic programs is seriously delusional. And the same goes for Iowa, Wisky and MSU.

3. The fumbles issue. Up until the last game this season we had 11 fumbles lost(13 after the tOSU game).  Oregon also had 14 fumbles lost(with one game to play). BoiseSt., generally regarded as one of the best coached teams, had 10 fumbles lost. And comparing anyone, even some of the acknowledged best RBs to Mike Hart is not fair to anyone.

4. Penalties. UM had 55 for 555 yards. Stanford had 59 for 532 yards. Not much difference, but then, if Harbaugh was really rated that much better at attention to detail, you'd think that their penalties would be much, much lower than ours.

5. Yes, I am a RR supporter, but I have looked at the season as a whole(minus the bowl game) and I have seen the most promise in this team for the future than I have in a long time, mainly because of the potential for an offensive juggernaut. The writer of that post makes an outlandish comment that RR views the defense as basically a tune-up squad for his offense. How ridiculous a statement can a person make? As Head Coach, he is responsible for the ENTIRE team in order to gain wins, something every head coach wishes to accomplish. RR has been a head coach for quite awhile now, and as other coaches realize, the entire team is necessary to accomplish wins on saturdays in the fall. Anyone who thinks RR overlooks the defense is deluding themselves.

This is neither a pro-RR rant, nor a Harbaugh bashing. This is purely a view of the writer's statements and how I view his negatives towards RR.
