They fired Willingham after just 3 seasons for "not recruiting", then watched as all the guys he recruited went to back to back BCS bowl games.  I'm not a huge Kelly believer, but any coach deserves more of a shot than this (and his track record is a lot better than "any coach").  I think NDNation thought things were running smoothly but Weis was the lone problem holding them back.  Now they are having a hard time adjusting to the reality that they just aren't a top-20 program any more and it will take time to get back to that level.

Everyone who was a contributor on Weis's BCS squads was either a Davie recruit or was recruited by Willingham in just his first class (which was a very good one).  His '04 class was pretty bad and his last class was a total fiasco.  If you look at Weis's 3-9 season, the blame for that probably goes about 50/50 Willingham/Weis.  Anyhow, ND isn't where they are now because they haven't been patient with coaches.  They are where they are now becuase they have made some really bad hires.  Brian Kelly is the first good hire since Holtz.

Never want to be like this. Nevah, under any circumstances. Must admit, my greatest concern at Michigan right now is for hotheads like this to cause the ultimate dismissal of RR & staff. Letting Weis go was the right decision for ND. Letting RR go would be the wrong decision for Michigan. Michigan football is heading in the right direction. If the current staff continues at the current pace, with a solid recruiting class, for 2011, "It's gonna be a good year. It's gonna be a good, good, year."

Look in the mirror folks...Unfortunately we are not that far from going down the ND path.  That is why, once again, I restate my support for RR and his vision to bring Michigan football to a level of competing for National Titles.  First comes difficult change, then comes continuity, then comes excellence.  Let RR go, and we are on the ND trajectory.

I kind of see Notre Dame like what the '08 Michigan team would have been with Ryan Mallett, Manningham, and Arrington all sticking around.

Say what you want about "new system blah blah blah" but I haven't been impressed this year by how well Kelly has used the talent that his team has.  He is squandering Michael Floyd's Braylon-like talents in a big way.

They have had a really hard schedule thus far.  Their three losses are to teams with 0, 1, and 2 losses respectively.  It's not like they've been losing to a bunch of shitty teams.  In the first year, it is very obvious that the defense has taken a HUGE step up without Jabba, and that the offense will be goodt once they get some experience.

Their arrogance is surpassed by no one.  A part of me actually hopes the Big Ten expands to 16 teams along with the other power conferences and ND is left out in the cold, with no conference affiliation in any sports.  It would serve them right.  I want that entire athletic department torn asunder and destroyed for their snubbing of the Big Ten because they thought they were too good for it.  Nothing would be more fitting than the school that thought they were too good for any conference to have their entire athletic program destroyed because of it.
