OT - NFL/Lions Open Thread/MNF
Hopefully my Lions can help subdue some of this weekend's disappointment again. I'm not too optimistic with Shaun Hill facing the NYG's defense, especially because we're not sure Calvin is playing. That being said, I'll be chugging the honolulu blue Kool-Aid if we win and will buy tickets to see them play the Redskins in a couple weeks.
Mod Edit: Bumped and slightly renamed for MNF

Calvin, Best, and Delmas are all active for today's game.

I'm excited to see how much Hart gets used. A good day by him would help make this weekend suck a little less.

Anyone got a stream for the Lions? No TVs available here
October 17th, 2010 at 12:51 PM ^

October 17th, 2010 at 1:10 PM ^

Perhaps try justin.tv? Haven't used it this year, but it has worked in the past

Found a really good HD stream for the Bears game, but nothing for the Lions
October 17th, 2010 at 12:53 PM ^
Caliendo bit was actually funny.
October 17th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
Well they have done it. The arrogance and blatant disregard for their customers on the parts of Cablevision and Fox have removed the game, and all Fox including baseball, from local cable. Time to go for a walk with the radio.
First seat licenses and now this.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
that make me grateful I'm a stubborn cheapskate and still go with antenna. (At least I upgraded to HD TV and antenna, but that's because I had to.)
October 17th, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
I had one at my last house and it was great - been saying I was going to do it here - will be on it this week. Have heard I can use one that goes in the attic, not on the roof but don't know. Should be an interesting project.

I'm in an apartment building in Manhattan and use in-room antennas-- I actually get more channels in my bedroom with the rabbit ears and HD converter than in the living room with the omni-directional thing and HD TV. But when the antenna is in the right place, the picture quality is terrific. But note that if you want to record, it's harder and harder to get a VCR/DVR with an internal tuner so you can schedule advance recording on more than one channel. The manufacturers really want/expect you to have cable/dish. You've really got to fight for old technology.

but, over/under 4.5 sacks for NYG today -- go
i say under!
October 17th, 2010 at 1:02 PM ^
Surprisingly enough, they are leading the NFC right now in most points scored. If they win today, at least I'll have something to be happy about in regards to football.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
are ruining my Patrick Peterson in Honolulu Blue wet dreams.
DON'T WIN!!!!
October 17th, 2010 at 1:16 PM ^
The Lions offense is fun to watch.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:21 PM ^
this is a much improved Lions who are actually competitive this season. They're the team on the rise and the future is bright with the core in place. They are actually a few players away from a playoff team.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
Fill three if those this offseason and Lions can contend in '11.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
of a need that it once was but if Peterson or Amukamara is available when it's the Lions pick. They'll take them to have the one of the best CB trio in the league.
October 17th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
Wade is brutal. They definitely need two new OLB's.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
good starting CBs in Houston and Smith. CB isn't nearly a big of a need that it once was a year ago.

I'm suffering from news corp. and cablevision too,
Those in NY try this:

it's working well for me!

I'm having a very conflicted day watching the Green Bay / Miami game.
I'm a Packers fan, but I don't hate Chad Henne. I'm also starting Brandon Marshall in fantasy, and my opponent has Aaron Rodgers and the Packers D/ST.
Whatever, I just want the Pack to win.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
This is precisely why I don't play fantasy
October 17th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
Manningham!
October 17th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
Super Mario scores!!!!! Now c'mon Lions
October 17th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
I had Manningham on the bench. But, you know, WOO New Math!
October 17th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
Drew Stanton alert.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:19 PM ^
My Peterson dreams are restored!
October 17th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
Why the hell was Scheffler carrying the ball like he is Dre Bly? That is not a good idea.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
2 years ago that a Shaun Hill injury could seriously affect my day, I would have called them a liar. Gotta love being a Lions fan
October 17th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
but Shaun Hill, please get healthy because I do not want to see Stanton on the field ever again. He sucks and can't throw to save his life. The Lions are a Stanton injury away from playing Stafford who isn't 100%. What a bizzaro world.
btw, what a crazy FG that Jason Hanson made! The wind definitely picked up and carried the ball for Hanson. Wow
October 17th, 2010 at 2:39 PM ^
meh Drew Stanton :(
October 17th, 2010 at 2:40 PM ^
Stanton is not good.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
and got the game last week. It had been a while since I had seen the Lions win in real time. It was a nice feeling...
Despite the record, they've improved.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
I want to punch Charles Davis in the face.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:50 PM ^
Stanton gets sacked by Mr. Cleveland Steamer.
October 17th, 2010 at 2:59 PM ^
I don't know how, but the Lions' display of lack of composure - despite being paid professionals - is really giving me a big dose of optimism this afternoon.
Is it ten flags now? My God. That is impressive.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:03 PM ^
is not coaching decisions, not being healthy- it is penalties. Game after game after game- Avril should be benched for the game- we had the Giants stopped for a FG attempt- instead- Avril takes an unsportsmanlike conduct...unbelievable....
October 17th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
but injuries do play a significant factor. No team can win consistently with their backup QBs and third string MLB's.

Team is better, but these penalties have to stop.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
would like to have a word with you...
October 17th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
and Leftwich was a decent starting QB at one point. Batch was also a starter.

I should say that no team with a rebuilding defense can win consistently with a backup. Lions obviously are not an elite team ala the Steelers.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:21 PM ^
he was wearing a leather helmet. The adjustment had to be rough.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:16 PM ^
that is all, not because he played for MSU but he really sucks.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
Don't get sucked in...don't get sucked in...don't get sucked in...don't get sucked in...don't get sucked in...dammit I am now sucked in...
October 17th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
Beast he is.
October 17th, 2010 at 3:21 PM ^
that is all
