Sounds like Emelien had a helluva day of practice

He'll be alright. I don't think he's wearing a brace anymore
August 19th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
I have always hoped that he takes Cameron Gordan's starting spot, because he was recruited for that position and was a pretty good recruit and i would love for one of our secondary recruits to play up to expectations. And having a converted WR start after just a spring and summer of practicing is a little bit scary.

If the coaches thinks Cam is the best for the job so be it. BUT, I do agree with this because it would be really nice to see some DB recruits working out. I mean RR seems to really be bringing in some great talent regardless of ranking, but good god how many DB's does he have to get before a few pan out? Anyone? Are they hard positions to judge talent?

I could be 100% wrong about this, but high school passing games are notoriously .... notorious. I think that a lot of DB recruiting (especially given the disparity between schemes that are out there) comes down to: are they physically capable of tackling in space and tracking receivers? and, do they seem to know what they are doing half the time?
August 19th, 2010 at 9:26 PM ^
How about Vlad and Cam instead of Cam and Kovacs? Thats what I want
August 19th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
We need someone who wraps up and makes the tackle all the time, but in a perfect world we wouldn't need Kovacs on the field to have someone who can make a tackle.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:44 PM ^
He covers less well...but that hitting in the box is nasty.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:49 PM ^
Why are we benching one of our best defenders again?
August 19th, 2010 at 9:55 PM ^
STARS, of course! He doesn't have any. Therefore, it's obvious he can't play.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
when C. Gordon was being recruited, the coaches told him he'd get a shot at WR but there was a lot of chatter back then about him being likely destined for the defensive side of the ball. Most people thought LB, so the move to S may not have been part of the vision, but I think Cam's on the side of the ball coaches always pictured him. And the side of the ball where his talents will best serve the team and Cam himself.

AAAAIIIIEEEE OUR QUARTERBACKS AREN'T READY
August 20th, 2010 at 12:16 AM ^
OK....what gives.... where are the unicorns?!?!
August 20th, 2010 at 1:08 AM ^
That would have been more appropriate earlier this week....ugh.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
Anyone remember Tony Gibson hyping up Emilien this spring? He followed that up with an abysmal spring game performance.
This doesn't mean anything.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
Vlad was still recovering from the knee injury during the spring game. I feel pretty confident that if/when he's at full speed he will be a noticably different player.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:23 PM ^
Did he suffer two ACL tears? The only one I know about happened before his senior season. He must have had another one I don't know about.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
No, he had a pretty good sprain, but no tear. He had a light brace (a sleeve I think) on during the spring game.
August 20th, 2010 at 1:01 AM ^
to discount one day in August, but place total stock in one day in April?
Maybe the spring game was the one that doesn't mean anything
August 20th, 2010 at 8:32 AM ^
Well I'm more putting stock in the fact he hasn't done one noteworthy thing in his college career.
August 20th, 2010 at 8:33 AM ^
One year old college career?
Wow. Somebody get every guy who didn't do much as a freshman but later blossomed on the phone and let them know they suck.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
Lets hope its Jack Kennedy's backup who threw the picks.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:34 PM ^
As much as I want Tate, Denard and DG to be lights out passers, I want a secondary that can light up a QB for a few pick sixes. If our DBs can do that against our #1 offense, (which should be pretty damn good) I won't feel quite so queezy on Sept 4.
August 19th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
Its always six of one, half dozen of the other while playing offense vs defense.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:46 PM ^
Sounds like he's fully recovered from that ACL and is playin at a very high level. Love hearing positive reports on our safeties. Guys are steppin up now that T-Wolf is out. KEEP IT COMING VLAD!
August 19th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
Vlad wasn't 100% in the spring game, he's had a good fall camp so far but you're right in one sense, until he does it in a game it doesn't really matter.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:57 PM ^
is a hard working kid that is going to contribute the rest of his time as a wolverine barring serious injury from angry wolverine hating god. I think the secondary will gel as the season rolls along, and vlad will be an intricate piece of this.
August 20th, 2010 at 12:55 AM ^
Did you mean "integral piece?"
August 19th, 2010 at 10:05 PM ^
Testify my brutha!
August 19th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
I'll have to update my predictions for the season again.
August 19th, 2010 at 11:23 PM ^
can't wait to see the Impaler in action
August 20th, 2010 at 12:02 AM ^
That will cost you at least dinner and movie..and probably a sex change.
August 20th, 2010 at 12:10 AM ^
OK. Inaccurate, but OK.
