A Suggestion: MGoBlog Day
- Should we have such a day?
- If so, does the day proposed (the last Thursday before opening day) make sense? If not, which day?
- If agreed to, how can we track progress of donations? Would Brian be willing to state how much was raised on that day? (at least a ballpark figure?)
Notes: * What is the proper capitalization, anyhow? ** Yes, there are other sports, but come on *** "greatly lessened" = "would suck a lot more" **** well, not truly. but kind of. isn't that good enough?

During my four years at UM, I learned two valuable lessons - (1) how to design and maintain a scalable software package across multiple platforms, and (2) you NEVER mess with Dance Marathon! I seen't them break somebody's jawbone off who tried to collect donations with them on the corner of Liberty & Main. I SEEN'T it!

I can't put into words what this site means to me. I'm not as good a writer as some on here and to be able to see my thoughts in some of your words has meant so much. For years I thought I cared about my Wolverines more than anyone. I found out I'm not alone because I have got to know a lot of you here. It's made these last 2 years tolerable and when we rise again it will make it more enjoyable. Thanks Brian and all you of like mind. I'm in.

I pay for Rivals and Scout. The least I can do is support this site too.
Brian's writing has, from time-to-time, moved me to tears. So has Scout's writing, but for the exact opposite reason.
Keep up the good work.

I'm down with the proposed day for our fundraiser, or whatever we want to call it. I'll pony up.
If we do a tailgate, I suggest the Michigan State game (selfishly because that's the only home game I'm likely going to be able to make it to).

I like the original MGoBlog Day idea, although I'm not sure about the timing. Yes, the Thursday before the UConn game is an okay day, but I think the day should be later in the fall. There may be people who are fans of M basketball and hockey, and ignore the blog until those seasons start, so we probably want to include them. Plus, I think there are probably a lot more readers during the season than right before, and the number is growing every day. So, a day for maximum participation (=revenue generated) would probably be around Ohio State week. Since it's now Thanksgiving weekend, maybe the Tuesday of that week? Or maybe Black Friday? I don't know if I'm typical or not, but I spend that whole day sitting around in a food coma, watching the various football games, and of course on MGoBlog on my computer. Plus, the idea of an MGoBlog day fits with the Thanksgiving holiday theme (sort of).
Thoughts?
Whatever we do, we should try to make it exciting and social, in an internet-y way. We could (if not busy with blogging duties) try to get Brian (and don't forget about the others, Tim, TomVH, and FA) to come on for a specified time for liveblogs just to talk about whatever, and maybe have some silly things (I'm thinking Caption contests, MS Paint competitions) on the board. It could be a day to celebrate MGoBlog and its contributors. These are just things I came up with off the top of my head, but are definitely ways to help the site while enjoying ourselves.

Don't have a problem with a "fund drive" or maybe even paying a nominal fee maybe for premium content or analysis, that is if it came down to losing the site all together, because I do feel this is one of the better blogs out there, and I find myself coming here for my M football news before I go to any of the traditional outlets.
