MSU loses one more
Cassius Peat told by coaches 4 days before he was to show up on campus that they won't take him.
DL Cassius Peat tells Freep MSU coaches told him Wed. that he can't come play for Spartans, 4 days before arrival. Says he is "blindsided."

they felt there was a "character" issue and under the present climate at MSU they simply can't take that chance.
a kid gets booted before enrolling
1) grades
2) school doesn't have room
3) possible character issues or legal trouble
4) kid doesn't put in the work after signing
3 of those are on the kid, MSU def. has room
Can you imagine what other coaches are saying about MSU. Especially since everyone was accusing Dantonio and Franklin of negative recruiting Harbuagh. And this year MSU should have about 70 players on scholarship. And I'll assume that this class will be between 30 and 35 players. This is a horrible time to have a big class when everyone is negative recruiting you. This will effect MSU for the next 5 or 6 years. And if it is true that MSU is thin on the D-line this year. MSU is screwed next year, because you can't win with a bunch of freshman on the D-line.
They can't sign more than 25 with the new rules passed this spring, unless I'm unaware of a loophole to that rule. Gonna be awesome to watch these next few years, especially if Mork can't right the ship this fall. Then a regime change and watching Sparty flop around like a dying fish.
early enrollees to the previous class
Wasn't thinking about this. Negative recruiting is huge. Was arguably the biggest penalty levied on PSU and Miami, those years of rival coaches saying things
This definitely gives the Georgia Southern's and Central Michigan's of the world plenty of ammo to negative recruit against one of their main competitors on the trail.
They are going to have a serious issue when it comes to APR. I think MSU will get hit with a penalty within the next 2-3 years.
The APR is calculated as follows: Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible. A team's total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team's Academic Progress Rate.
They need a 930 to stay above the penalty line over a 4 year period or over a 940 over a two year period. The first penalty level limits teams to 16 hours of practice per week over five days (as opposed to 20 over six days), with the lost four hours to be replaced with academic activities.
Like rats jumping off a sinking ship... A ship made entirely of tires... that are on fire. Like rats off of a tire fire ship. The analogy breaks down a bit because Peat wasn't even allowed on the ship, but I suspect his life will ultimately be enhanced by not being there.
Not quite. Peat was on the ship but was forced off before the fire (or when the fire was just starting) because of grades. When he tried to return to the ship that was desperately short of rats and now fully engulfed in flames, Rat Captain Dantonio refused to allow him on board
replaces 3-9 jokes around here
Less than 2 years ago they were in the CFP and now this
There must be a very good reason why he's inadmissible, because MSU could use literally any warm bodies at this point. Saving a scholarship barely matters.
