David Brandon not afraid to fire anyone (video)
Fox Business Interview with David Brandon. Sorry about the ugly embedding, if you prefer, just use the LINK. FYI, the guy hosting the interview acts like a total dick. The interesting stuff comes at about the 4:40 mark. Brandon remained composed throughout the entire thing. This guy is gonna be an amazing asset for the university.
who is this douche bag of a host. holy shit. Brandon is impressive ... again
Not to mention, who the hell are the fighting wolverines??? Thats just stupid.
What are "Go Blue" standards?
The douche bag of a host is apparently Eric Bolling. The guy comes off as a total dick, at least in this interview. His wiki page says that he is a Duke graduate and had a short minor league career playing baseball. One would think that someone familiar with sports would have been a little more informed or understanding of the role of an athletic director. It was pretty clear he had an agenda to get some specific answers out of Brandon, and Brandon didn't give him shit.
I don't really mind the questions in this case. Bolling is generally pretty tough on all of the people he interviews, so it's not like Brandon was being singled out here. I doubt the Fox Business Network has an ongoing agenda against the football program like other media outlets do.
Yeah, that guy is a total d-bag. I felt like Brandon wanted to punch that guy through the TV (at least that's what I wanted to do) but was able to keep his composure. Well done, DB.
would be a dick.
Good interview. I love how Brandon refuses to give the media anything to work with.
Here's hoping this deservedly successful Michigan Man achieves even greater things at UM than we hope.
I also love the immediate update once Brandon declares Michigan is not a brief stop. "Brandon chooses Alma Mater over Career in Politics".
So dramatic.
THIS IS A FOX NEWS ALERT!
change "alma mater" to "cheating athletic program" and "career in politics" to "making a difference in children's lives" and you've got yourself a Freep headline.
at the end: "You will make a great Congressman someday". What a dick. Who is going to answer the question of are you going to fire the coach. It is his first official day on the job for crying out load. Even if it was his 3rd year on the job, he is not going to tell some douche bag interviewer that he plans to fire the head coach.
So the lame-o host assumes if you know how to deflect sideways questioning you *must* be destined for politics. Any executive with that, or similar, experience running a publicly traded global brand would slalom that douechebaggery of questioning. Brandon (Bandon to his close friends) is here for the long haul, b/c if the situation were to arise, he's got the cojones to make the right, winning moves.
I don't think they have many athletically related guests on the show. That guy was just a political talking head. Really didn't know shit, if its true he played ball at Duke you'd think he would know a little more about athletics. Oh well. But Brandon did really well.
David Brandon with his awesome Michigan accent FTW.
My god, did Mr. Brandon handle that stupid question well. I get that the interviewer was trying to kid around with DB, but he kind of started to get impatient and kind of act like a dick when DB started giving him good answers. But honestly, I think the interviewer was very excited about being able to talk with the head of a major college athletic program--I know I would--but he's an amateur with poor manners.
I've only seen very little of David Brandon so far, but man has he been impressive in that short time.
On a semi-unrelated topic, holy shit did you see that Maize-out they showed? Tre impressive.
What a great guy. I'm excited for the future.
the guy lost his nerve and bailed right after the bad attempt to be FOX-news like w. the firing question. Brandon's answer was the obvious one: you don't fire the division head if it's not his fault the division is under-performing.
Despite this, I'm depressed. I was convinced RR had two years, and was gonna need them. Some of Brandon's other comments suggest it's this year or he's gone. I stare and stare at our schedule and hard to see us getting more than 6-7 wins; hope that's enough.
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! An interviewer asked "the" question of our new AD!! Call out the troops!!! Everyone is out to get us!!!!
After nearly 5 minutes of a 6 minute interview he asked "the" question - are you going to fire RR (to paraphrase). He framed it from a business perspective. And guess what - he is part of a business show, not a sports show. Everything until that point was neutral if not sycophantic. As was everything after "the" question. I fail to see what the problem was.
Stop being so hypersensitive.
