MSU gives Tom Anastos a contract extension to 2019-20
This somehow slipped through the cracks recently. I found this out this morning......oh my........
LOL
Are they trying to lose every year and continue their nosedive to hell?

We all thought it was hilarious back when they said they were gonna keep him.......but a contract extension into the 20s is essentially suicide. If they fire him, they're gonna have to pay a buyout. If they wait until it expires for him to leave, they will be near China they'll be in such a deep hole by then.
I have a feeling this is a case of "Just keep things steady, so I can focus on my real job." from Hollis.
Let's face it if MSU gave two shits about hockey they wouldn't have hired Anastos in the first place.
News....Please keep him forever
It's not like it's a huge deal. No school is going to let a coach's contract "just run out". It just ups the buyout to get rid of him a tiny fraction.
Wisconsin didn't extend Mike Eaves under similar circumstances last summer and it ended up saving them about $100k in buyout money when they fired him this year. If $100K is "suicide" for Michigan State's athletic department, they've got bigger problems than Anastos.
An effort to balance a budget by making them so bad that the program is eventually removed? lol
