Jerry Palm CBS has Mich #11 seed
Jerry Palm has us in as 11 seed vs #6 Dayton and Not in a play in game...Lunardi now has us IN...I went to bed last night thinking we were Out but we seem to be trending UP and IN...Will still be a nerve racking day...we DO NOT want Memphis to beat UCONN today

I'm going to get drunk in my underpants and then smack the old lady around no matter what happens. No need to prepare.

We don't deserve to be in the NIT.
We deserve to be in the field of 64

Most brackets have us as the first team out. I think if UConn wins we are in.

...but this is something I've always wondered.
How are the seedings determined? I mean, you would think that the top 4 teams in the country would each get a 1-seed in each region. The teams #5-8 would be 2-seeds in each region. So on and so forth.
So if we're a "bubble" team who maybe doesn't deserve to be in the tournament, why would we get an 11-seed? Wouldn't it make more sense for a bubble tem to be a 15- or 16-seed? Is it because the automatic bid winners from crappy conferences are considered to be weaker than the at-large teams from bigger conferences? Or does the committee toy with seeds to create good matchups?
I just think if the committee thinks we should barely squeeze into the tournament, we would be a #16 seed.

We'll see. That's a pretty dull story.
We're not really what the committee likes . . . a plucky mid-major who made a splash against long odds. They are willing to overlook some warts - bad losses, weak schedule, inconsistency - for those guys.
We will have to work against some mid major affirmative action on the part of the committee to get in.

They went 10-8, then won an opening round tourney game for 11 wins total.
On the flip-side though, Michigan and Minnesota both went 9-9 that same year and they both got in. And Penn State went on to win the NIT.
That stat needs to be retired. It's based on a pre-Rutgers world.

It makes 4 fanbases feel really bad which is lots of fun for the media and opposing fanbases.
