Rich Eisen - Michigan Man
Rich Eisen just it stuck to Steve Mariucci on NFL Gameday Morning. They had an NFL films piece on the Packers win over the Pats in the Super Bowl back in the 90s. Of course it centered on Brett Favre and his performance on that game.
And at its conclusion as they came back to the studio, Eisen tells Mooch, "yet he needed a Michigan man (Desmond Howard) to help him win that game. How often does a QB have as a good a game as Favre and not win the MVP? The other guy must have really had a huge game and carried that team..."
Mooch was speechless.

was a good coach when he took the Lions job. He was just a pretty boy who looked good in the Ford commercials.

after enduring Marty "I'll take the wind" Morningweig - anyone seems like a good coach.

Rich Eisen keeps it real.

After Marty Mornhinweg and Matt Millen, not to mention Martin Mayhew, could they really have done any worse by hiring Marshall Mathers?

I'd prefer the Lions to hire Flavor Flave. Or is it Flava Flave?

he hates to be called Flava.

If Mgoblog lore is true Rich referred to David Terrell and his B.A.D on Sportscenter. Only a true Michigan Man would pull that off.

Ah yes, I was at Dominick's with Rich when he was being told the story. It was the 2000 game vs. UCLA. He was there for ESPN Classic doing some UM-MSU rivalry thing. Didn't ever see the SC clip, though.

Thank you for posting that haloscan link.
You just helped me pass the last hour and a half at work.
Some classic stories starting about 1/2 the way through.
A very fine and well worth read.

To Rich Eisen, a true Blue Michigan Man, may your seed grow to be mighty and strong!
And no, I cannot explain what might possess me to write such a bizarre thing, so just roll with it.

I feel like sportscenter is worse without Rich Eisen. Yes...I know its been like a decade...but it needed to be said.

I don't watch the NFL Network much, so I don't get to see and hear Eisen. I miss that voice, that smart delivery and that unabashed Michigan pride. Sigh.

I always liked Rich Eisen.

Always liked Rich even before I knew he was a Michigan Man. Most of the guys on ESPN are full of hot air but he was one of the few that were really good. Of course just about anyone with any amount of talent have left them to go on to better things.

Rich Eisen, A beacon of excellence in sports media and journalism.
