Why is the board so testy & toxic lately?

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

Can't we all just get along? So many personal shots and attacks going on in many threads and that bothers me.

we're all different and we all have different backgrounds and come from different places but we come here because we're all Michigan fans.

Thanksgiving was going good for Charlie Brown until Peppermint Patty invited herself and everyone else.  Then acted stupid cause of the dinner that was prepared by a dog and some kids.  I mean how does she expect him to make this in such little time?

We lived in Chicago after moving from Michigan.  My oldest son and wife got very crabby as the amount of sunlight disappeared.  My son would wake up one day and say "it's here", stay crabby, and then in the spring "that's better".  The wife was no better.  Grey skies every day didn't help.

We moved to Georgia and there are very few days with grey skies.  Both my son and wife are much better to be around in the winter.  It did drop down into the low 30's today and didn't change my wife (she went for a long walk in the morning and came home with very cold hands).  Moodiness is more about sunlight than temperature.

was sports related PTSD. I have taken some losses hard before but that is the first time a sporting event became an issue in my "real life." I was actually kind of worried for a day or two, it did not easily fade.

think as a fan base, it may be helpful if we stop waiting for the moment that State "falls off" and fades to irrelevance. It does not appear that it is going to happen, and every year it doesn't it is like we "lose" all over again. I think it is becoming an unhealthy, self defeating state of mind. Does Bama wait for Auburn to "go away?" No, so they don't "lose" every time Auburn is good.

Honest to god I had a co-worker tell me after the game that Dantonio phrophecized (sp?) the whole thing. He did this with a straight face, and was 100% serious. I had to walk away or else I might've punched him in the throat.

Oh, and I have a Sparty brother.

So yeah.

other day a coworker Sparty gave me his take that 1) Dantonio got O'Conner playing time in the Maryland game because he "knew" that Cook was going to get hurt and 2) he held him out of the OSU game because he knew they were going to win and wanted to get him right for Iowa. So, once again, yeah.

I think the theory I had at the time is much closer to reality. During the first half of the Maryland game Dantonio was sacrificing Cook to the football gods for a victory of Ohio State. Find some other explanation, ANY other explanation, as to why the Buckeyes continued with the most asinine offensive gameplan I have ever witnessed.

But what reason could they possibly have to blow a game against MSU that would keep them from the B1G title game, and a spot in a second straight playoff? Losing to MSU then blowing us out doesn't do anything to us that beating MSU then blowing us out doesn't do as well.

you can't talk about the same topic in two different places. Everything on the interenet should have its proper place. What would we do if there were two places to talk about this Durkin guy? How would we follow both conversations? Would the world collapse? Better shame everyone just in case.

That bloggers tend to sync up their "anger" cycles much like women are known to do with their menstrual cycles. Weall get pissy at the same time, attacking one another and talking behind one another's backs, then a few days later we're our normal selves and we all get to laugh about the things we said and did when we were blog-stupid.
