Mgoblog Love

Submitted by bdneely4 on
I hate OSU. I am from Ohio (born and raised) and can't stand that I even live in this state. I need and appreciate the fact I have the mgoblog family to communicate with. My question is what is it going to take to turn things around. We have lost 13 out of 15 games. I keep saying it is a cyclical history but man this is getting hard. I tried to explain this to my 5 year old son who will hopefully not have to experience what we have in the last 15 years. Stay positive friends because we all need our mgoblog family right now. Go Blue!

Rashan Gary, Isaac Nauta, and Kareem Walker would be a great start...

Peppers looked like a beast against other teams and just looked pedestrian against OSU b/c Urbz has about 10 Peppers equivalents on his own team...

Gotta finish out this recruiting season strong.

We only need an upgrade in athletism at LB and for our starters on DL to be healthy on defense. Obviously offense is a lot farther off, but Harbaugh's system offsets that somewhat. Get a play maker at QB (no offense to Rudock) and a RB that actually takes what the OL blocks and we will be a lot more effective.

The question is how do schools that share a relatively modest talent base with another conference school (as do Michigan, Indiana, Illinois), or are sparsely populated or have an even less than modest talent base to begin with (Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin) compete with a traditional power in a talent rich state that has no other Power 5 conference team in their state?!

This is an uphill battle for every team in the B1G, even Penn State due to the sanctions they brought on themselves. Let's review the last period of sustained success M had vs osu, the 90s:

2 Heisman winners ( both from Ohio), and a roster similarly littered with players from Ohio & Pennsylvania.
Or the late 70s, when Rob Lytle (also from Ohio) led the way to 3 straight wins in the series.

What to do? Well, keep raiding ohio for one ;-)
and if the NJ pipeline can become a real thing that'd be amazing. But sustained winning is gonna require some just plain recruiting, coaching & winning first. Anyone old enough to remember the last time we beat osu in consecutive years would probably be out of eligibility by now!

We haven't seen ANY of the players Harbaugh has "pulled in" play yet, so what are you basing that on? Starz? What if some of the LB still on the board come to M? The class of '16 isn't complete or signed yet.

My larger point was about the margin for error we have due to ohio's natural recruiting advantages. For the next couple classes that margin is nearly 0 - or we're going to fall further behind. And any further behind it stops being a rivalry in all but name.

13 out of 15, next game in Columbus with Barrett still likely at the helm... the bucks will lose quite a bit of talent in the next draft, but really they are in full reload mode now. Bosa's don't come along every year, but they'll find players.

We need to find better ones!

Absolutely agree. This recruiting class and the development of our young guys into the system we envision to have in the future is a big step to putting an end to this.

Urban is a quality coach and Ohio State attracts football talent. Coach Harbaugh is the coach I'd pick first if I had choice of all coaches but even he is going to take a while to catch up to the bevy of talent Urbs has stockpiled. They didn't beat Alabama with scrubs, you know.

Look... Guys, enough of the doom and gloom shit. I get it.. It's been hard. But, under Harbaugh this is the floor. We're 9 and 3 with a grad xfer from Iowa and Fucking duct tape most everywhere else. It only gets better from here. Believe it!

With Harbaugh this team is going to keep getting better, especially at running the ball. The day is not far off when Michigan will do unto others as OSU did unto them today.

Also, a large part of neutralizing Urban's spread is having a dominant DL - and we already have that when they are all healthy...

I  am so embarassed by this team,  By its performance over hte past decade.  Might as well let Ohio State take advantage of our mothers and sisters the way they've played.  Really embarassing and disgusting.  Good luck getting a dollar of donatns from ANYONE now Michigan AD.

WIN FIRST

This person is a troll who has no life (as evidenced by the fact he is trolling an opposing team's blog on a Saturday Night)

Or he/she is one of those delusional Michigan fans who doesn't know how football works and they legit expected Harbaugh to take a 5-7 football team to the National Championship game in his first year winning every game 163-0.

Athletic LBs that can tackle in space. Of course, after 4 years of *cough* Bolden *cough* anything is an improvement. I swear he'd find some way to miss a tackle on an empty aluminum trash can.

Would you rather have:

Three freak athletes at Linebacker that make a lot of crazy plays but also blow a lot of assignments.

Or three guys that know exactly where to be but are Jordan Kovacs level athletes.
