Court ruling in favor of Jerry Sandusky
A Pennsylvania Court has ruled that Sandusky is entitled to his state employee pension. The pension, which was revoked upon his conviction in 2012, amounts to $58,800 per year.
I'm not an MGoLawyer, but this makes me angry.

(1) Sanudsky wasn't a PSU employee from 1999 forward.
(2) Per Pennsylvania state law, forfeiture of a state pension due to the crime of child molestation was NOT included until 2004.
One may not like it, but it seems a strightforward ruling based on the letter of the law. "Ex post facto" laws are specifically forbidden in the US Constitution.
In the "big picture", it's only $58K/year anyway. The victims and/or PSU's insurance company may decide to go after this money.

Most interestingly:
A Commonwealth Court panel ruled unanimously that the State Employees' Retirement Board wrongly concluded Sandusky was a Penn State employee when he committed the crimes of indecent assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, which were the basis for the pension forfeiture.
So, it sounds like because he left as an employee in good standing (officially speaking, of course) and committed the crimes of which he was convicted later (after his official retirement date, which I assume is the measure), he is entitled to the money per the ruling. The spokesperson for Pennsylvania's State Employee Retirement System refused to speculate on any further action the state might pursue, but Sandusky's lawyer said he expects the board to appeal this.

Except that some of his crimes date back to 1994, and the ruling was that it was via his charity that he committed them, even though he was a Penn State employee at the time. Absurd.

PA could not take your state pension for child sexual abuse convictions until they passed a law in 2004 allowing that to happen.
Sandusky was retired by then and the forfeiture rule can't be retroactively enforced.
Sandusky did commit some of these crimes while he was a PSU employee, but that won't count legally.

Not reading the thread (too lazy), but I saw this announcement on Twitter earlier today and almost puked. We need to just destroy PSU.

Hopefully this money can find its way to the victims, or charities that help prevent these kinds of things from ever happening again.
