I have a lot of friends/co-workers at this homecoming. Scary stuff. Presumably-drunk 25 yr old female drove a vehicle head-on through the crowd without slowing down in the middle of the parade. Was going an estimated 40-50 mph. At least 3 dead. Approximately 7 Helicopters flying the critically wounded to OU Medical Center.

The OSU Homecoming parade is considered a top 10 Homecoming parade in the country, so there are A LOT of people there. The school has had its fair share of tragedies the past 15 years.

This was awful. I read it and how in the world this happened. It goes to show why Alcohol and driving should be condemned. Man. Disasters like this make it very hard to support some of these kind of celebrations.

Call a cab, people. The $20 you'll spend getting where you need to go safely is nothing compared to the jail time and guilt you'll live with for the rest of your life when something like this happens.

Drinking and driving is never worth it. Pay for the cab.

Except those drivers don't know how to get places. You have to tell them exactly where you are going, and exactly how to get there. It is a nice option, but true cab drivers have their place in this world still

DUI laws are far too soft in this country. She needs to be imprisoned not for years, but for decades. Three people will never live another day and more will never be the same. Prosecute her and sue her in civil court for everything she is worth and will ever be worth.

What does this even mean and what is the reason for trying to separate the illegal behavior that likely caused the crash from the tragic results of the crash? This obviously and tragically has a lot to do with DUI and if you want to deny that you're no better than an apologist for drunk drivers.

If going to jail and losing everything would stop people from doing this, it would already have worked.  At some point you are just trying to seek revenge rather than punishment and I sure don't want to be part of that as a member of society.  We need to fix the problem before people die.

The way to fix the problem is to take licenses away on the first offense and permanently on the second offense, and to throw people in prison for driving without a license. Sounds harsh but I've had two friends who were hit by undocumented aliens without licenses and of course without insurance who were hurt and screwed because the drivers had no documented jobs nor assets so they had no means of recovery, and neither driver was imprisoned. They're both probably out there driving now.

It appears there is much more to the story. When the first article stated this occurred at 1030 am, i figured something must be up. Who is drunk enough to do that at 1030? Seems she lost her job that morning and left there only 30 minutes before the accident. Her dad described her as very timid, and he seemed genuinely surprised. Cooworkers said she was not drunk and walked normally. The accident occurred only 30 minutes after that. So its very, very unlikely that alcohol in that short a time before could be the primary cause. Doesn't make much sense. It is speculated she took pills. It appears she may have attempted to commit suicide. If so, thats really scary because she was working part time at an ice cream shop. This seems far more probable than an alcohol related DUI. It is an extraordinary tragedy regardless. I understand people get upset with drunk drivers and rightfully so but it's a shame some jump to conclusions without looking for the facts. If the story is true, will you be as quick to criticizing the lack of mental health support available?
