Early Game Thread - bring it on

I'll be mainly on the Iowa-Illinois game, but I'll try to flip around if the woman allows it.

And recovers the fumble in the endzone...

And they replay it. Makes no sense. It's a touchdown either way...why do we need to stop the game? It's not like he fumbled it out of the endzone or it was slapped out.

Too soon?

People who don't know what's going on at Texas should know what kind of mentality he's up against. That roster is loaded with prima donna 4 and 5 stars that have never had any real discipline imposed on them whether on the field or off. It was always going to be a painful transition to a disciplinarian like Strong after the later years of Club Mack Brown, moreso with that ass clown of an AD Patterson alienating the alumni and students and running off Strong's comm director, who was his right hand guy.

Which is why he has to play so many freshman and RS freshman...he's rolling with guys he recruited because these entitled club Mack Brown bunch aren't good/tough enough to make it in today's game.

I've watched a bunch of their games this year and they're fun to watch with Heard at the helm, he's a baby Vince Young with some of his runs.

They're just coming up a couple plays short. And it's the special teams that have really let them down.

But I love watching inspired football from teams with their backs against the wall. Especially this time of year because we're going to see 2-3 teams today that have just mailed it in. I wouldn't be surprised to see BERT's Arkansas team just say "fuck it." The Georgia/Tennessee loser is going to have a tough time for the rest of the year.

I don't know. We hear the "lazy upperclassmen used to a country club" line every time a new coach struggles. I'm not sure how much discipline Strong is really meting out if his guys are Facetiming and going on Twitter during games. Part of a new coach's job is to find a way to get the locker room on his side. I think we can safely assume that Harbaugh works his players harder than Hoke did, but he isn't facing any backlash.

But in Texas' case, it's genuine. I wouldn't necessarily make analogies to UM under Hoke with the Texas situation-- I don't think Hoke's players were coddled. I think they were just demoralized as their coaching staff's competence revealed itself to be... not ideal... over a period of 4 years. I wouldn't have expected any backlash to Harbaugh, though there clearly was some resentment among rising 5th years who didn't appreciate that they were "auditioning" for their spots.

USC going down. And Oklahoma looks like they are confused. Two more teams going down in front of us and a defeat of NW. Puts us in top 15 no problem. GO BLUE. Take care of business.

I feel like this is irrelevant. If we win out we are in the playoffs regardless. If we lose one game it is a probable major bowl. If we lose two more rankings don't matter and it's all up to the Bowl selection people.
