Saturday night drinking/summer memories thread

Submitted by sadeto on
Last night we were asked to revisit the worst jobs of our lives. It was pretty gruesome, a lot of us have suffered for the man. Tonight, let's recall our best summer memories. For me, having grown up on the Connecticut shoreline, it's dragnetting, surfcasting, and of course girls in bikinis. Remembering those great times while downing some Greenport Harbor Hopnami DIPA. You?

tried about 15 beer samples, Two Hearted came out on top as expected. Best summer memories will always be chasing the fish in the lakes and streams of the UP.

In elementary school, a friend would sleep over and we (along with my sister) would stay up all night, and then make coffee and go outside and watch the sun rise (yes, my mom did not have a lot of "rules" for us). We thought we were "grown up" and had so much fun. I can see us now, like I'm watching a movie. I hope my son has happy memories like that when he grows up, although he won't be drinking coffee or staying up all night as early in life as I was! haha

Tonight I just had some chardonnay.

After graduating UM buddy and I went on a road trip out west for three weeks.  Never touched a freeway, only back roads.  Was incredible.  Slept in our car.  Met great ladies.  Hiked in the heavens.  Surfed in SoCal.  A great time in my life.  Only cost $500.

Drinking H20 tonight.

Oberon currently after a childhood friend's wedding.

Sticking on the theme from above but cruising around our neighborhood at age 5-6 on our Big Wheels was a pretty great summer

Happy B-Day WD! Ok - my childhood memory was a summer on the East Coast skipping mussels and eating others on a beautiful lake in New Hampshire. Swimming, girls, fishing and horseback riding in the mountains were commonplace. I hope my kids get to do something like that as well.

Good thread. Summer in LA living on the beach on a blow up bed with UCLA students and nights in Venice. Thai food, basketball on the beach, and the first time having an adult paycheck

Nice. I'm from Southern Indiana but my family has been spending parts or all of our summers at our cabin in Baldwin, MI in Lake County since I was born. We're up here now, but my wife and i are heading back to home and work this morning. We sat around the campfire last night talking about all the memories we had from growing up around here. Wish I would have seen this thread last night. And for the drinking part, I believe it was a local selection of our finest 2% milk, paired with two hostess cupcakes. Classic.

From the time I was 1 yr old till I was 12 we spent all summer after school was out in a small town up in the mountains about an hour west of Denver. My folks rented an old cottage with coal-burning stoves for heat and cooking, and the entire summer was spent playing outside and up in the mountains hiking with my Dad and the family. If it hadn't been for all the family in the Detroit area I would have moved out there years ago.

(Sunday morning) Drank racer 5 after a trail run on angel island. Best summers were spent running sections of the Appalachian Trail with my highschool x-c team mates. Followed by 40s we stole (Casper-style)
