then we're staying with Adidas.

I don't really give a shit from a personal apparel standpoint because I buy virtually no UM gear. The only stuff I've bought in the last few years are Champion sweatshirts from Moe's, which are great.

My only issue is that Michigan retains the right for final decisions on all apparel, and that we have head coaches and most importantly an AD with the brains to put the kibosh on bumblebee jerseys, illegible numbers, cumberbund/my-pants-are-falling-down shorts and other clowniform idiocies. There is NO intrinsic, groundswell, grass-roots demand for alternate uniforms. All of it has been done with the sole goal of goosing apparel sales.

You know what will supercharge apparel sales? A winning football team that beats MSU and OSU.

We're at a low point brand wise, I would think it would be in Michigan's best interest to sign a short term deal and negotiate again in a few years after we win some football and basketball championships.

The Dawgs will receive $2.88 million annually in gear and $1 million in cash, plus a $2 million signing bonus. Georgia’s contract is ahead of what apparel powerhouses Texas, Alabama, Kentucky and Florida reportedly receive from Nike, though the ‘Horns contract expires next year.

It's rather hard to say if it is too much or too little - this contract is still in the upper half of Nike's contracts (and slightly up from the $2.5 million or so that Georgia was getting before), so it seems about the same really when you consider some of the other contracts in that range for Nike.

I honestly want to go to Nike but if Adidas and Michigan can come to an agreement that we use classic uni's only in football and basketball I'll be fine..

I hate the generic template we've been using for basketball.. Honestly can't stand it. If Adidas can stay classic with Indy why can't they with Mich!?!?!

Then $4-$5 million is not a great sign that Nike is willing to pay Michigan anywhere near what ADIDAS will pay. I kinda still have a attitude towards Nike for dumping is and moving the Nike camp on to OSU campus years ago. But if ADIDAS is gonna pay more then the last deal which I think they are, there is no way we are leaving

- Nike was paying UGA $2.5 million.

- New deal will pay $3.8 million. ($2.8 million in goods and $1 million in cash.)

- Nike pays FSU the most at $4.4 million ($2.9 million in goods and $1.45 million in cash.)

- FYI: Nike pays OSU $46 million over 11 years which averages out $4.2 million. Here's a good article on the deal: thelantern.com/2013/12/just-doing-it-ohio-state-nike-extend-46-million-brand-building-agreements/

Adidas currently pays Michigan $8.2 million per year since our deal is $82 million over 10 years which was the largest at the time. So what's the largest?

Under Armour changed the shoe & apparel industry by becoming the 3rd major competitor in the States. I looked into UA's 2014 deal with Notre Dame. Under Armour will pay Notre Dame $90 million over 10 years which surpassed our deal with Adidas as the biggest.

If Under Armour pays us $10+ million, I don't see why we wouldn't take that. And Jim Hackett should try his luck and push/ask for $11+ million because we're as good of a football brand with better basketball and a stronger conference.

Nike will not pay us $10 million since the Swoosh is top dog. Nike has no incentive to give us that type of money. Realistically, Nike's offer probably won't even break $6 million so any thought of Nike even matching our current Adidas deal is wishful thinking / delusional since $8.2 million is nearly double Nike's largest current contract.

On the other hand, we know Under Armour isn't afraid to make a splash. UA surprised even Nike with the staggering offer it made to Kevin Durant which forced Nike to significantly re-up its offer.

I see us getting at least $9-10 million from Adidas since our current deal is $8.2 million. So if Under Armour wants us, then it has to give us something more.

And even if Adidas matches, we're not obligated to stay with Adidas.
