My favorite draft memory is the Lions taking Terry Fair above Randy Moss.

When we get to reflect on how terrible our drafting has been, and what a joke the Lion's management is. The consistency is almost impressive.
I'll get excited about the draft again when Michigan has 4-5 players projected to get picked, but the format still blows!

When Michigan has 4-5 players projected to get picked in the first round
HIndsight...Benefit of...How many guys that the successfully passed over with character issues who washed out?
My favorite draft memory is watching any NFL draft ever as a kid and thinking that the guy the Lions drafted was going to be a superstar.
I made Bryant Westbrook really, really, really good in Madden.
before the draft. I guess I'm as good at talent ID as the Lions

The Lions passed on a top WR? I refuse to believe that...

I don't think it's hilarious. It's what we as sports fans/consumers do. It's the same thing as discussing the pros and cons of a recruit, talking about whether Jim Harbaugh was a good hire or not, etc. It's just giving an actual score or grade to a recruit, a hiring, etc.
is just too much. Sports banter is fun, but NFL draft coverage is a complete mockery. Schefner, Mortinson, Kiper, these guys just repeat things that other people have told them and they do it over and over and over and over again. They treat the process like it is advaned physics and the things they are saying are their own ingenius "ideas." The things they say are almost always wrong and people forget what they said the minute the draft is over so they can continue being "experts." I like the draft itself, especially the first round, but I hate the way it is covered.

Those guys are actually pretty clear that they are repeating what they are told by their various NFL sources.

the endless money grab is ruining the enjoyment. I am a total capitalist, but I really hate the current mindset in sports of going for every little scrap of marginal dollars. Everything must be on prime time now, everything must be stretched out beyond all recognition. The draft was WAY better as a Saturday/Sunday event, not even close.
I'm surprised no one has started a thread about the rumor that Chris Singletary is out at UM. Seems like kind of a big deal. A few people are saying he's been let go.
You have enough points to start a thread...
But anyway, I don't think it's been confirmed. So maybe people are holding off for that reason.
EDIT: I fixed it for you.

Can't believe the Lions passed on Taylor Lewan last year.

I'm with the OP. The new format drags the process out over too many days, and also leaves too much time to mull over issues like "now why again did the Lions take Eric Ebron when they have decent TEs and many other holes to fill?".
In the old format, I'd just do some chores around the house with the TV on in the background all day, checking in a few times an hour to see who the Lions picked. Of course I'd watch the beginning of the draft until the Lions made their first pick, because until recently that was not much of a time commitment.
I don't pay attention to mock drafts or anything like that. What's the latest on Funchess' draft stock? Will he go tonight?
It seems like he's probably headed for the second or third round, not the first.

I resent anybody being critical of anything regarding Cleveland's Super Bowl.
Tonight is the high-water mark of our season. It's all downhill from here.
Way too much time between picks filled with commentary I don't care about so I'll do other stuff and check in ever 30 minutes or so.
Prediction: The Lions will find some way to infuriate me again this year.
Me last year: "Literally anyone but Ebron, literally anyone but Ebron, literally anyone but Ebron...GODDAMNIT"
This is the best thing I've seen all day!

Of reading about the overbearing, or ridiculous coverage of the draft
on a college football message board filled with people who spend countless hours talking about players who are just coming out of high school.
And another yearly disappointment.
I also hate how the draft starts on Thursday now. One other thing I CANNOT...FUCKING...STAND...is when the pick is about to be announced, but the anticipation for hearing the pick goes bye bye when you see the player on camera, on his phone smiling/crying, because now you know who the next player selected is. It's best to just wait for the announcer to say the name, but no, ESPN and the NFL have to ruin it by pretty much giving it away before it's announced. It's also best to stay off of Twitter if you don't want the announcement spoiled prior to the official announcement because there are morons who just LOVE to be the guy who announces the selections first.

That was one of the single best things ESPN ever did. Actually being responsive to fans. It was stunning that they actually did that, but I think they would've been in real danger of losing ratings. I cannot say enough how much I hated the practice of spoiling the pick before it was announced. I don't care what other networks do on Twitter because not looking at Twitter is the easiest thing in the world.

I hope Devin Gardner gets drafted. Also My steelers need to draft a DB so the defense be on point so we can get to win our 7th SB ring.

Three hours for just one round is so incredibly annoying...yet I'm sure I will have it going in the background to see the picks. I also hate when "insiders" on twitter tweet the pick before it is on TV.
