Gary
FOOTBALL.
Tough question but I think that I would take Gary for two reasons...
1. I care more about football than basketball
2. 1-2 years of Brown versus 3-4 years of Gary (maybe 5 depending on how he develops)
Brown is more of a sure thing though so he has that going for him.
If Gary was at Michigan for 5 years then theres a good chance he didn't live up to that #1 player in the nation hype.

Player 1 would make up 9% of the team on the field at a given moment.
Player 2 would make up 20% of the team on the court at a given moment.

Not so fast . . . what position did you have him starting on offense? If none, than you have someone who is on the field 4.5%, not 9%, not 20%. And the reality, if a lockdown defense, is that our offense will be on the field 60% of the time, defense 40% of the time. So that would be someone on the field 3.6% of the time, not 4.5%, not 9%, not 20%.
To be completely fair, Brown would probably only be on the floor 75% of the time, or 15% total. Still, that means that Brown has 4 times the impact that Gary does.

Both...
That would be a HUGE story...UM signs the #1 Player in both Football and Basketball. When was the last time a school did that? It certainly doesn't happen often.

I'm sorry, I love the basketball team, but my life is dominated by Michigan Football.
I'll take Jaylen Brown. If we land Jaylen Brown, I think we go from a Sweet 16 team to a Final Four team. Plus hopefully getting Brown will start a trend of elite basketball players heading to Ann Arbor, like Tyus Battle who visits in 2 weeks.
If we misss on Rashan Gary, we could pull in other top DTs such as Jordan Elliot, Naquan Jones, Michael Onwenu, etc, who could prove to be just as good as Gary in college. That being said, I hope Michigan is able to land both. Go Blue!
I think this is a pretty easy one. You take Brown. 1 player can affect the outcome of a basketball teams success way more than 1 player can in football (outside of dynamic quarterback maybe). If Gary was a quarterback, then it might be a more difficult question.
