Caris LeVert Returning
[Bryan Fuller]
High five. Let the playing time knife fight begin.
LeVert will obviously be largely exempt from it, as he's a lock to get 30 minutes. Normally you'd say he's a lock to get 35-38, but with the depth on this roster they can keep their main guys fresher until true crunch time.
With LeVert in tow Michigan looks set to be a serious contender in the Big Ten once again.
But like I said, this assumes Spike is healthy. If not, then you have to redo everything because he's redshirting himself or if he plays, it's not 20 minutes a game.
They both were playing like 30mpg THIS past year and Walton was playing the 2 more than the point.
In actuality it was just whoever was closer to the inbounder or whoever got the outlet pass, but it was clear more times than Spike was the PG when they both played than Walton. Unless it was late in a half, then they put Walton at the point and stuck Albrecht in the corner.

Doyle was at 18 MPG this year as a true frosh. I think he get's bumped up to the 22-25 MPG range.

It'll also depend on the development of Chatman, Wilson and Donnal.
Conditioning will be a factor. And foul trouble.
McGary didn't play that, Morgan didn't play that...
Morgan only averaged 20 minutes a game in his SENIOR season. That was without McGary.
So there isn't a shot in hell Doyle plays that many minutes.
by saying Sweet 16. The combination of talent and experience looks a lot like 2013 or 2014. If we get decent play at the 5 the sky is the limit. I think Doyle's got it in him, I really do. Very exciting!
PG: Walton 20/ Spike 20
SG: Levert 30/ Walton 10
SF: Dawkins 20/ Robinson 10/ Irvin 7/ Levert 3
PF: Irvin 20/ Chatman 10/ Wagner 10
C: Doyle 23/ Wilson 10/ Donnal 7
I Think this looks like a solid rotation. It was brought up that their is not point in having depth and still playing your starters 35 minutes. MAAR showed some great flashes and may not redshirt but their is not enough ball to go around. PF it will be interesting to see what Wagner can do and how much Chatman develops. I think PF is a wild card position and it could really supprise us next year. This has us going 11 deep opposed to a typical JB 8-9 man rotation.
Levert should be at the 2 due to his ball handeling opposed to Dawkins.
That's like 10 less per game.
You're better off just giving those 3 LeVert minutes to Irvin and going by 5's...

LeVert back is great news. Obviously his leadership, understanding of the what is expected and what we're doing, and personal skill set, are awesome.
The observation I'm excited about is the depth. To be able to limit minutes and have solid contributions from that many guys is incredible. Looking at the roster, I see 9 - 11 guys who could be solid contributors. (I don't really know what Wilson and Wagner will bring.) As a Chicago Bulls fan, who sometimes chafed at minutes limits on starters, I see how important depth is. The combination of depth, experience, skill, and balance across 5 positions is huge. If we stay healthy, we have 3 - 4 guys who are 6'9", and versatility across the roster. LeVert brings it all together.
Final Four, here we come!

Nobody had to lick his car door handle to get this result!
This is great news for Caris (it does seem like the right decision for him), for Michigan (duh), and for the fans (double duh). Glad to see him back!

OK, I know I'm obsessing over this a little bit now... but the car licking. We should have several overweight males take pictures and be seen amongst the twitterverse licking the handle on LeVert's ride. That would be a nice mock of KY fans while simultaneously highlighting our joy at his return.

Fan-Tas-Tic News! The happiness, it is overwhelming!

to us. What is this "senior year" business? Is this a new NCAA waiver of some sort?
The next big roster issue is if Spike redshirts. Even though Caris isn't a point, his coming back may have an impact on Spike's decision.
but it really compounds our problem for next year, as we have already spent Spike's scholarship.
How would it impact Spike?
Having Walton back takes Spikes minutes, not LeVert...even Dawkins could be taking Spike's minutes. Not having the best player on the team who doesn't play your position.
While this is obviously awesome awesome awesome news, I can't help but notice that - if you discount two "Harbaugh to Michigan posts" at the end of December - this is the first use of the "100% colombian awesome" tag since... last February when we skunked Sparty at Crisler. Oof.
Now, making the elite 8 and winning the conference were arguably deserving of "100% colombian awesome" but both of those were still last March so still.... oof.
This should be the most exciting football/basketball combination year in a long time. There have been better teams in either sport but not this kind of overall optimism.
IMHO of course
said that they plan to win national championships in both sports in the same year, so...
so what
And I have a son starting his Freshman year this Fall - the lucky bastard (although I am truly the father).
My daughter started in 2008 and stayed for a Masters. I keep telling her you're a bigger fan after you leave. She's still disillusioned but that should change soon.
Who's got it better than us?

Thanks for staying Caris! Always liked your demeanor, glad to see you have another year with Michigan.
If anyone hasn't read Brendan F. Quinn's piece on Levert from last year, definitely worth a read. Well-written and an interesting look into his life. Link:

hard not to see this team competing for the ship next year.
Wave after wave of solid talent
Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.
