Tell me about the Big Ten
what are your opinions on the fanbases of the other 13 B1G schools?
mine-
Illinois: strange fixation thinking they are a rival of Michigan's
Indiana: arrogant basketball fans who think they're god's gift to basketball when they haven't been to a Final Four in over a decade.
Iowa: Humble corn lovers
Maryland: Kind of have that lost puppy vibe. They don't have a rival and don't really care about football as shown by 6 years without a sellout crowd that ended this year when OSU fans took over their stadium.
MSU: what do Michigan, MSU and OSU fans all have in common? They're all obsessed with Michigan. Nuff said.
Minny: They're humble midwesterners.........unless you're talking about hockey fans then WOW are they irritating.
Nebraska: probably the nicest fans in the conference and they're the best fitting addition to the league.
NU: other than students who are fans of NU, who grows up an NU fan?
OSU: what do Michigan, MSU and OSU fans all have in common. They're all obsessed with Michigan. Nuff said.
PSU: Delusional drunkards
Purdue: at least you didn't finish in the B1G cellar this year! Wooo!
Rutgers: Too busy fist pumping to be good at sports
Wisconsin: I remember them being drunkards but that's about it since Michigan hasn't played them in football since 1903.
edit: DISCUSS
2006 and 2011 weren't over a decade ago.

A Michigan team that went 5-7 last season is more relevant on a national level than Sparty's 11-2 team. The winningest program in major college football will always be relevant.
So is Princeton and Yale relevant then? They have over 50 national title between them. The answer is no they are not relevant. Right now, Michigan hasn't been affecting the national football scene like state has, hopefully that will change though.

This community has become aggressively self-flagellating. It's becoming tiresome.
It's OK to talk trash about rivals - especially on a forum that is 99% Michigan fans. It's sports. It's not that serious.
Where's the customary "DISCUSS"?
Edit: OK OP nice add.
In general I have no ill will towards Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois. In fact am applying to those for grad school. Wouldn't mind if I got in there although obviously hope to get into UM
Minnesota I somewhat dislike because of the hockey program and I want the Brown Jug back.
Wisconsin fans have always annoyed me.
Many Northwestern grads are even more prickish than a stereotype of the prickish M grad.
State...nothing needs to be said, the inferiority complex applies in all areas here.
Purdue just seems incredibly boring.
Penn State are delusional rabid losers.
OSU has a good football team which I hate and little else going for it.
Rutgers and Maryland still don't count, should be in the ACC.
Nebraska can be hickish but seem generally nice.
Illinois: A University so big it takes up 2 cities. Can't hire a successful football coach and hired a basketball coach because he beat UM once.
Indiana: Crean's criminals
Iowa: Could be dangerous if they had an competence in either sport, somehow Denard lost to them.
Maryland: Those people are everywhere out here. Fear the turtle, indeed.
MSU: by all accounts not a very creative group. (See yearly basketball t-shirts, little sister chants). Good memory and would probably do better in school if Mike Hart was a professor.
Minnesota: Hired a football coach that looks like their mascot. Well played, Minnesota.
Nebraska: could be nice, I've never actuall met anyone from there. Definitely delusional about their place in CFB. Toilet TV's
NU: Hey at least they are smart, right?
OSU: By far the most hated B1G. People I know from other B1G schools can agree with on that. Really good at spelling Ohio.
PSU: ?? Good at getting out of trouble I guess? State College is in the middle of nowhere.
Purdue: Always plays ND tough. Decent academics, seem like nice people?
Rutgers: Most people thought NJIT was Rutgers basketball team. At least their new coach doesn't mistake basketball for dodgeball.
Wisconsin: Seem like nice people I guess. Between all the beer and the cheese they've given us I guess I can't really complain. Probably Packer fans though.
UM: Arrogant? Sure. Will be dangerous in a variety of sports soon. HARBAUGH. Needs to work on painting skills.

Nebraska does have a prominent place in CFB, no delusion about it.

I would push those buttons non-stop -- fodder for this year's holiday dinners??? "So, Saint Joe got his wins back... any of you care to explain how you un-rape those little boys?"

Well, or how you credit wins to a guy who was sitting in the press box with no headphones and no communication to the sidelines. IOW the last several seasons he was just a spectator and a figure head--not a coach in any stretch of the imagination.

Syracuse and Pitt football have both been without a pulse for quite awhile now.
Just a couple years ago Pitt got beat by something like 3 TDs at home against an FCS school.
Would add a great basketball program and an okay one as opposed to a good one in Maryland and a non-existent one in Rutgers.

Pitt has a much stronger football history than Syracuse... Tony Dorsett, the 1976 national title and a bunch of claimed titles back in the day. Because they used to be able to get great recruits from the talent rich area of western PA/eastern OH. I wouldn't be opposed to either instead of Maryland and Rutgers but they do little for me.
Pitt claims nine titles, Syracuse one. Each has one Heisman trophy winner, Pitt has 50 consensus All-Americans, Syracuse 12.
Mostly replying to say that the movie based on Ernie Davis' life, The Express, is definitely worth watching.
Hugh Green.
Tony Dorsett.
Dan Marino.
Mark May.
Russ Grimm.
