OT: Interesting Night of NBA Basketball
Russell Westbrook gets his 4th triple double game in a row. Jordan was the last person to do this in 89 when he went 6 games straight I believe.
The Clippers game had a bizarre ending in that Deandre Jordan thought the shot clock buzzer was the end of the game buzzer resulting in Chris Paul going crazy. I hope someone gets a gif of it.
Here's the highlights.

The height difference makes it even better lol.
After the funny debacle, the Blazers would roll the Clippers in OT making that screw up hilarious and costly for the Clips.
I remember watching Bird play one of the most incredible games I've ever had the pleasure of watching. It was towards the end of his career, and I think he Celtics were playing Portland. Bird went off scored about 50 and finished with a triple double.
The more I see the Jazz play the more I feel like he isn't a good fit for what they're putting together. I hope they don't pick up his option (highly unlikely) or trade him this off-season so he can get to a better situation.
I wouldn't say he's shooting a much higher percentage and getting more assits.
As Starter | 41 | 32.4 | 4.7-12.8 | .370 | 1.5-4.8 | .311 | 1.5-1.9 | .818 | 0.5 | 2.1 | 2.6 | 5.0 | 0.2 | 0.9 | 1.7 | 1.8 | 12.5 |
Off Bench | 18 | 28.4 | 5.6-14.4 | .386 | 1.9-5.8 | .333 | 1.1-1.6 | .679 | 0.2 | 2.5 | 2.7 | 3.7 | 0.2 | 0.6 | 1.6 | 1.4 | 14.1 |
He's shooting .016% better from the field, .022% from 3, his assits are actually lower, and he's averaging less than two more points a game. While he has been playing at a more consistent level (while still getting starter type minutes) I think its important that he maintians his starting role, especially out west where the PG play is so important.
Nicolas Batum was the MVP of that Clippers game he scored or assisted on the last 19 Trail Blazers points (including overtime). Damien Lillard had 18!? rebounds too, weird stat.
They've got the best player in the world on their team.
Let's not act like this is Michigan surging into 2nd place after everyone wrote them off when they lost to NJIT and EMU.
They're 4th right now.

...but yes, they'll be 2nd in no time.
I stand corrected on the seedings-thanks. For some reason I had us in front of Chicago but not quite yet. And just to be clear there were a LOT of people here early in the season chortling (love that word) at the Cavs expense before they picked up JR Smith, Shumpert and Mozgov.
BTW - I know JR Smith was considered a world-class knucklehead in NYC but here in Cleveland he's been amazing. Lock down defender (as good or better than Shumpert IMO) and gets 5-6 rebounds and 15 points a night without demanding the ball. The Cavs changed radically once they got those mid-season pick-ups and are a LOT of fun to watch right now.
JR Smith is hilarious. I wouldn't ever want him on my team but that dude is just out there. Those Nuggets teams with him, Melo, Birdman...incredibly entertaining.
Westbrook should be the MVP. Both Harden and Curry have much better supporting casts than OKC as well as competent coaches. Westbrook is a damn dynamo.
Well, technically you were still correct. The Cavs are now in second place in the division.

Let's see - did the Wizards play? Nope. Yes, interesting night in the NBA. The Wizards have fallen apart, and I am not sure why. They were legitimately the second best team in the east until about February, and then all hell broke loose.

Jordan had seven in a row and ten in eleven games in '89.
Michael Jordan was amazing that year. Did this to my Cavs (and I was at the freaking game)
However as great as he was these guys were world Champs!
Wait, so are you a Detroit fan? I thought you were just a Cleveland fan.
The Clippers broke Lillard's streak of scoring in double figures. His streak was third among active players behind LeBron and Durant. Paul won the PG matchup 36 and 12 to 5 and 4, (pts and assts) but the Blazers won the game thanks to a couple, "where-did-that-come-from" threes from Batum, a la, Tre Demps. Also, Deandre Jordan missed six FTs in a row during "hack-a-Deandre" time (doesn't have quite the same ring as "hack-a-Shaq.") Doc had to take DeAndre out as a result and the Clips defense suffered letting Portland back into the game. It was a crazy game, highlighted by Paul's freak out.
It's interesting to see this outcome after reading a really fascinating Grantland piece recently on advanced defensive metrics: http://grantland.com/features/department-of-defense/. Among other things, the article makes the case for Chris Paul as the best perimeter defender in the association.
wrongly assuming it would include historical tidbits from some day 20-odd years ago when NBA basketball could have been considered "interesting" . . . .
