I would like to see a rule change that gives the regular season champ an automatic bid. A crappy team(like Wisconsin this year) could win the B1G tourney and get an NCAA bid over someone that had the best record in the league. How is that fair? Why play the regular season if all you need to do is just win a couple tourney games. At least in the old CCHA playoff tourney format, there was a bracket and bottom teams had to go through a gauntlet to make it to the Joe.
Same can be said for basketball too. People are just fussing now because the B1G has been so craptastic this year. Only 1 B1G is getting this this season. Just accept it.
That's the way it's always been. That's what makes 1 and done hockey exciting. Your destiny is in your own hands. Winning solves everything.
You sound like Jerry Jones trying to expand the playoffs because the Cowboys (except for this last season) were .500 over the previous ten years.

If you can't be one of the top 14ish teams in college hockey do you really deserve an auto bid for being regular season champs in a crappy conference? There really isn't a reason to play the BIG tourney if there is no bid on the line. Nobody would go or watch it either.

With Lowell tying and St Cloud losing, Michigan is now tied for #15. Going 3-1 or better vs MSU/PSU may actually be enough to slide in.
Gotta be higher than 15 to slide in. You're not accounting for any upsets in the conference tourneys.
Probably need to get to #13 to really feel safe. The B1G is a prime candidate to steal a spot, AHA will take a spot, and then another 'who knows' could always appear. I just meant we slid back to the positive side of the line and our destiny should be in our own hands again
Yes, destiny IS in Michigan's own hands -- win the B1G tourney. That completely ends any debate.
Lose the tourney and hope Lowell, NE, and Harvard falter too down the stretch.
