"I didn't look for it, so it clearly can't have been posted yet!"

I apologize. I've been busy and ran across this earlier and thought I would share. I didn't realize this had already been posted. Thank you for putting me in my place.

I dont know if i should be disgusted by the idiot fans in the world or laugh because its so crazy ... But if anybody touches Tate the MGoBlog crew will whoop that ass .. just for anybody feeling froggy.

As much as I hate the guy that is BS, and I hope they prosecute the guy that hit him. He was out to dinner with his family for crying out loud.
November 24th, 2009 at 12:23 PM ^
in the morning. Nobody should be prosecuted for a punch thrown at 2:30 in the morning outside a bar.

I hate ND as much as the next guy around here, but if someone punched Jimmy because of their record, I don't get it. My whole perspective changed after that German nutcase stabbed Monica Seles.
Of course, had Tate not made that TD pass with time running out, I might have felt differently.

Maybe they just thought he was a giant ass. Or maybe the golden boy actually said something to him. What do we know other than he got two black eyes from a punch?
November 24th, 2009 at 12:35 PM ^
battery is battery. It doesnt matter if its 230am in front of a bar or 230pm in front a church. Everyone should be prosecuted for being a giant douche and physically harming someone.
November 24th, 2009 at 2:38 PM ^
You can't go around assaulting people and use a night out on the town as an excuse. That's just irresponsible and downright idiotic.

looks he accidentally butt wiggled into the wrong hombre

you like/dislike a football player/coach, they're still a person. Yes, sometimes even the sight of Jimmy Clausen is offensive but I think this is an instance of a FB fan taking it way too far. Nothing in there on if he retaliated or not, props to him if he took it and didn't do anything back.

These are a bunch of young guys, regardless of the school, who have busted their butts playing ball for a university - student athletes, as they are called.. No one has the right, off the field, to say or do anything.
Go post on a blog if you are unhappy. I wonder if the dude who threw the punch would have been so brash if the entire O or D line were standing there too.

I think this might be a great opp for Shreddder (sp?) to do some of his best work.
November 24th, 2009 at 1:10 PM ^
who in the hell cares about jimmy clausen, seriously?
November 24th, 2009 at 1:26 PM ^
Obviously there is no defense for this behavior, regardless of the reason.
But the irony is that if you’re going to sucker-punch anybody for what has happened to the Irish, Clauson is about the last guy it should be. The dude has actually had a good year. He brought the Irish back from behind in four of their six wins, and he almost pulled it off in several of their losses.
If it wasn’t for Clauson, the Irish could easily be a 2-9 team.

From what I read here and on the previous thread, there is no mention of what took place other than "sucker punch". It calls the guy an irate fan, but doesn't say why he did it.
Why is it assumed that the punch stems from anger surrounding their less than impressive record.
