CC: Afternoon Harbaugh buzz (Steve Deace, Rivals, 247 -Lorenz)

Submitted by BeatOSU52 on

Long time GBW contributor (and also a political guy), Steve Deace had recently this to say about the situation via twitter:

Couple of sources I trust the most, who are typically right on about Michigan-related stuff, are saying for sure that Jimmy is coming home.

Meanwhile, on the Fort ($)(Rivals.com), a long-time poster who is being backed by all the Rivals posters as always being dead-on when he posts inside information, is saying he's very close to the situation and that it's a 100% done deal.

Finally, 247's Steve Lorenz makes his crystal ball prediction if Harbaugh comes to UofM or not (spoiler: it's good). Link: Here

God help us if none of this turns out to be true.  If JH ultimately decides to not come here, then it will feel like an infinite number of continuous Bruce Lee karate kicks to the testicles.

Please come back to AA, Jim.  I do not want to spend the rest of eternity getting kicked in the junk by Bruce Lee.

I agree, but this is a big reason why I am definitely towards "this is happening". Two reasons:

1) Harbaugh knows this. Unless he is a totally aloof or heartless prick with zero regard for Michigan football, by now he would have found a way to communicate the bad news to Hackett if he was a no. Or if he was "torn" about still staying in the NFL, he'd at least tell Hackett to keep working the other swim lanes so if he decided no then at least logistically Michigan wouldn't be up a creek.

2) If Hackett was confident Harbaugh was not coming, he would have let the news leak out awhile ago. Similarly, if he thought Harbaugh was shaky, we would at least be hearing more positive vibes and movement on Option B candidates. Hackett wants Harbaugh ideally but he also wants a successful search generally. If Harbaugh falls through, the only way Hackett could still have a successful search is if people get deflated (or at least get expectations tempered) about Harbaugh first, get over it, and then get focused on Stoops vs Mora vs Miles etc.

Neither had happened, which means it's either happening or Harbaugh is about to completely screw over Michigan and/or Hackett is a complete moron for mismanaging the search and Option B swim lanes.

in the latest searchbits, brian says that mysterious internet person 'GFunk' has gone to 100%.  the guys on the victors board and board 5 always refer to mgoblog as GFunk's website, or @mgoblog's tweets as 'GFunk's tweet'.  Brian is GFunk. GFunk is Brian.  So brian has just tacitly given us an indication that he believes with 100% certainty that the deal is done.  Laces out.

The longer this search drags on.........the more I feel like I will be heartbroken and

empty......like someone ripped out my heart and soul.  I too will feel like Michigan is spiraling down into the abyss.....

If Jim Harbaugh does not come to Michigan this time, i feel like his opportunity is past never to be offered to him again.  I watched his 49ers press conference when I got home from work tonight.  Seems to me the vibes that I picked up, is that he wants to stay in the NFL.  I guess my biggest fear right now, is that he will be headed over to the other side of the bay to coach Oakland.

That would truly be a gut punch...to be beaten out by Oakland. I want to believe so badly...that Jim is coming home to Ann Arbor. IF he does come back home to Michigan, I hope that his heart is in it, and it is something that he really wants to do. My impression after seeing his press conference today...is that his heart is in/with coaching in the NFL. I hope it is not too late for us.
