What players do you think get drafted? What round?

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

There's been a lot of discussion in other threads as to whether or not Funchess is staying/leaving (for the record, I personally think he's gone)...but what round do you think he's drafted (if you think he's leaving)? Also, what other players do you see being drafted?

Wile is quietly another guy who was harmed by the problems of the last few years. He's got a pro-level leg and has never gotten in trouble. Unfortunately, not being redshirted and splitting roles has dramatically harmed his development. In his time here he's shifted between kickoffs only, kickoffs + long FGs, kickoffs + pooch punts, full-time punter, full-time PKer. That's crazy.

His accuracy really doesn't seem NFL-caliber (to me, a totally untrained fan). Would that have been the case if he'd been a 5th-year PKer, like he thought he was signing up to be?

Depending on Clark's legal situation, he could go anywhere from 4th round - undrafted, with the latter being more likely. He always showed flashes, but was never anything remotely resembling consistent. I think he'll get picked up by someone eventually, but his NFL career will be a short one.

Ryan might have a shot with a team, and he'll probably go somewhere from the 5th-7th round. Good, hard-working guy, but I don't see him going before Day 3.

Funchess will get drafted somewhere in the 3rd-4th round based solely on potential. If he ever rounds to form, he can be extremely dangerous, but too many dropped balls and just disappearing in games for me to want to take him any higher than that right now.

I may be missing someone, but everyone else, in my opinion, won't get drafted.

Ryan and Funchess will be late-round picks at best, and it wouldn't surprise me if neither are selected.

Clark will get a shot as an UFA. Gardner won't, at least as a QB.

...because you're disappointed in their performances this year?

Funchess isn't going to be a late pick if he goes. He may not be a 1st or 2nd rounder, but he's not going to be a 6th or 7th round pick either.

Potential means more than production in pro sports. You know that.

Or are you just being a downer because the team sucked this year and you don't think anyone "deserves" to be drafted?

We sucked last year and Michael Schofield was taken in the 3rd round. Meanwhile Mike Martin was a BEAST and he was also taken around the same time.

The draft isn't just a ranking of college footballs most outstanding players from 1 to 256. But again, you know that.
