NC Game Storyline: Calipari to Lakers?
I apologize for not being able to embed the actual tweet on here (and maybe somebody can help me out), but Rex Chapman tweeted out just a little while ago:
@Rexchapman: Was messin' 'round on Sat nite re: Cal. But word is - win or lose 2nite - it's a #DoneDeal ...Cal 2 La-La-Land 2 coach Mamba's Lakers. #NoBS

Take it for what it's worth.
Start printing a few purple and gold "82-0" shirts, or no?
As an LA native and Laker fan since '93, please no. There's no need to bring Cal into the mix. Despite having completely blown amazing opportunities to have Phil Jackson, Brian Shaw or Byron Scott at the helm, just about anyone else would be a better fit than sleeze-ball Cal.
word is he might take the pistion job has gm/ /coach
I don't understand what Calipari's qualifications are to be a NBA coach. He's a recruiting genius, but nobody thinks he's a strategic wizard, and he already failed once in the NBA. Smart NBA teams should be looking to hire college coaches like Brad Stevens, who didn't have the best talent but developed a team that was greater than the sum of its parts.
He gets outcoached every other game. Kevin Ollie, a second year coach, took it to him last night. Everyone on ESPN at halftime was like, "Coach Cal did a great job going to the zone." No, when they got back into the game, it was because Boatright and Daniels got into foul trouble with six minutes left.
I'm looking forward to him bombing out in LA as well. What, his 72-112 record in three seasons not enough for people?
I'd be shocked if a NBA team hired Calipari. He's a terrible coach, you can't cheat and recruit your way to victories in the NBA. They have 0 offensive plays and sets and only switched to a zone defense after one of the players suggested it.
There'll be less friction with Kobe that way.
Nothing the Lakers do for the next two years matters, its what happens after the anchor that is Kobe is gone that does and theyll need a coach then.
