It sucks to not have him but last game of the year. Other players should be able to go longer including 4th quarter with same energy. Hope he heals up soon.

Yes, tough news. But Makari Paige will play, which is important.
January 6th, 2024 at 4:53 PM ^
I second this. Paige has been solid. Wishing Rayshaun a quick & complete recovery.
Go Blue!

Sounds like Mason Graham is good to go too. He was limping for a bit... didn't stop him from wrecking shit in OT though.

Elston will know what to do. Especially against a 275 lb center.

I hate that Benny is out, but thank Allah, Buddha, and Jesus for our tremendous line depth. Heal up and get healthy for next year and hopefully celebrate Monday night with the guys, Rayshaun!

I must have missed it. What happened to him?
January 6th, 2024 at 4:59 PM ^
Got injured on like the second series against bama
January 6th, 2024 at 5:04 PM ^
Had to be helped off the field. Read on some message board that said it was a broken ankle/leg but I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.

Sucks for us. On a related note, Washington RB Dillon Johnson is expected to play although not 100%
January 6th, 2024 at 5:04 PM ^
Idk the quotes coming from the Washington staff don't exactly sound super confident in his health
"I think that he's [Johnson] had a great week of rehab. He's able to start repping with us. I think that he's feeling a lot better," Grubb said. "I know he's a really determined young man, so I would be shocked if he wasn't able to come out there and make an impact in the game."

Man he looked like he was in serious pain from his injury. The type of pain where you are not healed up in a week.
It’s been an ongoing thing for him. I would be surprised if he plays and if he does I would think he would be limited.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:53 PM ^
I wouldn't be surprised if he plays, kid seems to be an absolute warrior, but I would be surprised if he's full-on.

probably just a decoy to make Michigan plan on him playing... kinda like Michigan did with Corum last year
January 6th, 2024 at 5:30 PM ^
I've heard a lot of Michigan fans make that comparison.
I don't think it's a decoy, but I think it's a situation where he could be in/out of the game, constantly getting treatment and retapped, etc.
I feel like we played OSU in one of those games and that was Henderson or Williams. They just couldn't go 100%.
We'll see. But if he's Corum level hurt, there is no point in playing him at all.
Michigan's offense centered around Corum and we were going on the road to OSU. And Edwards had a broken hand.
Washington's offense doesn't center around Johnson. If he can't go in warm-ups, you just put him in sweats and leave him on the sidelines.
That said, I feel like he'll be healthy enough to tough out some carries and fight through the pain. Just based on practice comments from this week.

Their two back ups are not big (200 and 185) and not experienced.
Looking forward to some Barrett and Colson feast on the blitz.
January 6th, 2024 at 9:49 PM ^
This is the big one. Dillon Johnson has incredible pass protection grades, and that could be as big of a gain/loss as his rushing ability.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:18 PM ^
Rayshuan has impressed my very amateur eye. Best on the recovery and looking forward to seeing what he looks like next year!

Wondering about Junior Colston. He was completely wrapped up in the press conference after the Rose Bowl and didn’t look like he could raise his right arm at all the last couple series.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:34 PM ^
Haven’t heard any scuttlebutt there but to me looked a normal icing of a mild injury post- Rose Bowl.
wondering too about our CB depth…couple guys dinged up there behind starters
January 6th, 2024 at 9:19 PM ^
Doubt you’re putting a guy out there to speak with anything serious.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:34 PM ^
Rivals guy said that he expected Junior to be about the same level of health as he was going into the Bama game... if I'm remembering correctly.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:21 PM ^
How bad is it for the D to not have him?
January 6th, 2024 at 5:31 PM ^
He is a great player and is a very valuable part of Michigan's rotation.
That being said, we will probably be running a 4 man front so probably fine 4th best DT when the 5th is really Goode.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:24 PM ^
If we were ever going to shorten up the rotation and go with more Graham, Grant, and Jenkins...this was it.
Empty the tank!!
Also of note, we're playing Washington, not Georgia or Alabama...meaning, we were probably lifting a DT for a LB or DB more in this game anyway.
Outside of goal line, I'm not sure how much we were going to see 3 DTs on the field at the same time. I think it's pretty safe to assume we were going to stick to Graham/Jenkins, Grant/Benny in this one.
Now Goode fills in for Benny, but again, we can also just give more snaps to the top 3 guys. Leave it all on the field.
-------------------------------------
Getting Paige back is huge. I've been wondering if we'll see any DIME or 4-1-6 this game with W. Johnson, Wallace, Sainristil, Moore, Paige...and Q. Johnson or Sabb as the 6th DB.
I'm sure we'll start with what we do, but I'm never surprised by a Minter wrinkle. The man is a savant!
January 6th, 2024 at 6:15 PM ^
Obviously you don’t want any injuries but if there’s a spot where we can weather one, it’s the D-Line
January 7th, 2024 at 9:24 AM ^
Heal up quickly and completely and continue onward and upward!
