Biggest hurdle in most non-competes is sometimes that you have to return any buy-out money if you work for the competition in less than a year.

Not an expert but personal experience in the banking world, all of sudden, the new director leaves after a few days because someone found out and someone said pays us back your buyout money if you are going to work for the competition this year.

If he had an NDA in his contract it would have been nullified by his firing. OTOH, he could have signed an NDA as part of his severance package, but if that were true, he couldn’t take the Bama job unless the terms specified only that he not take a job with a particular set of opponents, like say the Big Ten.

Except Sankey would never succumb to the low level leeches in the SEC who don’t add to his bottom line and suspend the head coach of one of his biggest cash cows and annual title contenders.

You can call the SEC a lot of things, and a lot of it is justified, but they protect their moneymakers, and no one ever steps out of line. Vanderbilt, Missouri and Arkansas know their place in the hierarchy.

Sankey runs that conference like a Mafia don. Pettiti lets the inmates run the asylum.

A guy who worked for Minter, knows our system, our calls, etc.

lol, "it just means more."

Bama got any kids in the portal? I'll start a GoFundMe NIL to get them to Ann Arbor for a semester.

Thank God the NCAA is cutting down on iPhone videos of sidelines though because how else would a team be able to gain advanced knowledge of their opponents.

Saban should do everything he can to win.

I think it's encouraging that he feels like he needs to go to such an extent to get an edge.

I don't think there's any miracle that can save Alabama, though.

I doubt they're going to be close enough for that to save them. And that's a good reminder of how they're not what people think/remember them to be.

I think that we are even better than our SP+ rating, and that this matchup isn't even close.

Obviously, I was speaking hyperbolically. But hiring Helow doesn't move the needle at all.

So then Michigan should raise the same stink OSU did! Oh wait, we don’t have leadership that would be organized enough to do so. The real reason this is hypocritical, is that Harbaugh threatens both the current power coaches and NCAA with trying to better the game. NCAA for obvious reasons, coaches like Saban and Smart, because they might not even be average coaches if the talent were near equal

He’s basically Grima Wormtounge. Cast away from Rohan only to join Saruman and spill the secrets of Helms Deep.  Any LOTR nerds you with me???

1. There is nothing remotely illegal or unethical about this;

2. Having someone who has been inside the practices; who has worked with the current defensive coordinator, seen his playbook, knows how he calls plays and what he likes to do, what sort of coverages he has in his playbook that nobody has seen; who has worked directly with and against the current OC, who knows (unlike us, unlike people who watch film or even who record the sidelines of games) exactly how the offensive staff works together to call plays, who knows which plays in 22 were Sherrone Moore plays and which were Matt Weiss plays; who knows how the OL coach coaches his linemen and how the DL coach works with his; is a much, much bigger advantage than having recordings of signs that are used in public in front of 90-100,000 people, often visible on tv, and used in games.

What Stallions is alleged to do is a violation of rules. But the handwringing about what advantage that may have provided Michigan, about how it affects the integrity of the game... baloney. The intelligence Helow provides to Saban and staff, notorious for how thoroughly they prepare, is an order of magnitude more valuable.

1. True.

2. Having read long senetences before, indeed, having often penned such in the course of my career and, must I add, my personal life, supporting, as I do, a proper peppering of punctuation (i.e. a sprinkling, not a deluge, of commas, colons and the like, much as spices may be added by a saucier at an upscale--not to say stuck-up--French bistro), having regaled in the length and, lo, the girth of grammatical agglomerations of the sort often shunned by the more pedestrian peruser of paragraphed prose, and, being a proud LS&A man, having once discoursed on the delightfully discursive nature of Joyce--she's my favorite writer, ha!--in Ulysses (or Odysseus if you prefer), even I found this sentence to be, not to put too fine a point on it, just a touch longer than one might, on a normal day, wish.

I knew I had to quit when I started pulling hairs out of my head in frustration, so I tapped out after about 20 pages. But 10 years ago I probably would've just pushed through it. I hated quitting a book I had started.

I wish I had thought of Hemmingway when I put it down. Bells, balls, and bulls would've been just the remedy.

I have never seen readability stats like this before.  You reached grade 56 which is about 8 times harder than the average person can comprehend.  9th grade reading level is recommended for professional writing. I have never seen anyone get over 26 before (but I don't think they were trying.)  FYI - Going from engineering to the B-school I started getting an A on most every written paper once I found grammar check.

I’m sure Finebaum will justify this somehow…  And, talk about the creativity of Saban.

How big is the Bama staff?   I realize there’s a limit on the number of coaches, but - is there a limit on the number of analysts?

This could be serious, now they’re going to know which specific run up the middle we’re going to call on first and second down.

Edit to add: Play action is safe though, no one knows those signs.
