The only thing larger than her talent was her determination.

Pushing 40 with nothing but her name, she willed a second career that dwarfed her first.

My mom is now 93 and not a rock or pop fan. Many years ago we were watching TV (before cable was everywhere) and it was a Tina Turner perfomance. She had gold / silver metallic miniskirt, and while singing was dance up and down an elaborate stage with several long flight of stairs.

I was waiting until the song ended before switching channels because I know mom isn't a pop fan, but she turned to me and said "that woman knows how to wear high heels."

One of my favorite memories.

RIP Tina

I was 20 when Private Dancer came out in 84 at the peak of MTV.  Tina was the Queen of Rock and Roll and MTV.  She was "simply the best" and even though 20 yrs older than us, "hotter than all the rest!"  Saw her 3 times, amazing shows.

How times have changed.  At that time, guess what one of the most popular Halloween costumes was?  Yes, Tina Turner.  No political statement.  Nothing "racist".  Doing what you were supposed to do, have fun and imitate one of the most popular people in the world.  Only judgement was could the person pull off the hair, leather mini, fishnets and pumps on the hotness scale.  A much better, fun and easier time. RIP Tina.

OP obsessed with cold subject titles when people pass away.

Name certainly checks out.

(and yes, I know, it's accurate, she is literally dead at 83).
