Brad Robbins Returns for 6th Year
Guy’s career is lasting longer than…than…sorry I can’t think of a metaphor right now. Something that goes up to Ann Arbor, and then stays there well past the point where even your biased brain thinks it should have come down.

The punts will continue to go boom, perhaps enough to win a Ray Guy. Robbins debuted as a true freshman in 2017 when Will Hart was struggling. However Hart’s emergence and an injury to Robbins meant the understudy only saw four punting opportunities in the next two seasons. Robbins passed Hart in 2020 and was one of the team’s few bright spots, keeping the team in the Indiana game with seven punts averaging 54 yards. Last year he appeared to add another uncanny half second to his hangtime, doing his part to help Michigan finish #1 in the country in special teams (to FEI and the award-givers), and 4th nationally in punting efficiency to FEI. More of that? Yes please!!!
Michigan’s still waiting on word from 2021 Lou Groza winning-kicker Jake Moody, but if now Moody goes pro Michigan won’t have to put both duties on RS freshman Tommy Doman.

I'm glad someone is coming back...
January 10th, 2022 at 5:24 PM ^
Well, the punting responsibilities are pretty head coach-indifferent, so...
January 10th, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
He stays longer than a grad student still working on the dissertation.
And glad he is.

Where does he think he is at, Wisconsin!!! Seriously, more than thrilled he is coming back as that part of our ST will be in good hands....and feet!

He's been here almost as long as Jordan Bohannon has been playing BBall at Iowa...
January 10th, 2022 at 3:53 PM ^
And that dickhead davison @ wisconsin.....
January 10th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Obviously he feels he didn't get to prove himself in the OSU game, particularly the second half.
January 10th, 2022 at 3:59 PM ^
Hell yeah Brad! You will be playing on Sundays, very glad we get to see you here for one more year. Hell of a punter and such a weapon to have.
January 10th, 2022 at 6:22 PM ^
First round pick?
January 10th, 2022 at 4:01 PM ^
This is great news. Now Moody too and the special teams are rolling.
January 10th, 2022 at 4:08 PM ^
This news will probably be underappreciated by the majority of fans. But Robbins' return is actually a significant boost to our team next season.
January 10th, 2022 at 4:11 PM ^
Absolutely awesome.
January 10th, 2022 at 4:31 PM ^
it can't be overstated, how difficult it would be to leave Ann Arbor after having grown up in the stench of the horseshoe......
Welcome back Brad!
January 10th, 2022 at 6:27 PM ^
Directions to AA, go north until you smell it and west until you step in it. haha
January 10th, 2022 at 4:31 PM ^
Excellent! I really enjoyed having top-notch special teams.
January 10th, 2022 at 4:34 PM ^
Glad he's coming back next year!
It's funny to think Wilton Speight was our QB when Brad came on the scene. That just seems like a long time ago....

don't publish this
January 10th, 2022 at 4:39 PM ^
Well that's excellent news.

May the folding chairs continue to be wielded!!!
January 10th, 2022 at 5:29 PM ^
Bold move by Robbins assuming we punt next season.
January 10th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
He will get lots of punts in games and win the Ray Guy Award.
January 10th, 2022 at 7:27 PM ^
I wonder how much of this decision was related to NIL? (Just an honest question.)
January 10th, 2022 at 9:14 PM ^
Even great kickers have what, a 20% chance of making an NFL roster? Very good kickers maybe 10%? They sometimes get picked up during the season.
10% chance x league minimum salary = $70k salary. Staying on scholarship while getting a master's degree may be the better financial decision.
January 10th, 2022 at 8:11 PM ^
That is great to hear.
January 11th, 2022 at 1:08 PM ^
Great news about Brad.
But the post I'm refreshing to see is that his coach returns for his 8th year at Michigan.
January 11th, 2022 at 11:49 PM ^
Need Moody next!
January 12th, 2022 at 3:24 PM ^
