We were the favorites for Thompson for a while and something seemingly changed in the last week or so. Seems like the coaching uncertainty is biting us in the ass
December 4th, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
Seems like a combo of Michigan's struggles plus Missouri being his home team.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
I've looked at this kids film, and he seemed slow to me. Not a great offer list also. If they want him, they have a year to get back in it, but IMO not a big loss, another safety and we have 20 of those.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
This staff is too inconsistent in recruiting.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:14 PM ^
And coaching. ?
December 4th, 2020 at 8:29 PM ^
Unfortunately the coaching is very consistent.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Just goes to show that the indecision about Harbaugh’s future from the AD is going to lead to the worst outcome for the program in the long run.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:50 PM ^
This is what makes me think that Warde might be working behind the scenes on
- A mutual parting of ways with Harbaugh
- A new coaching hire
If Warde was dead set on renewing Harbaugh’s contract, why on earth would he let the issue of his contract continue to linger and thereby hurt recruiting? Idk, just a guess since I obviously don’t know anyone on the inside, but it just seems odd. Even with COVID, it’s not going away any time soon and the school is going to HAVE to pay the coaching staff one way or the other. So why drag your feet if you’re already set on extending Harbaugh’s contact? What does that accomplish?
December 4th, 2020 at 7:10 PM ^
If they have a handshake agreement, but nothing signed, I could see why they haven't formally announced anything. Rico Beard is throwing shit on the wall and claiming that Harbaugh is telling recruits he doesn't know if he will be back. Harbaugh has since refuted that report. How in the hell would Rico Beard know what Harbaugh is telling recruits? He will be back.
December 4th, 2020 at 7:29 PM ^
If that’s true though, why not announce it? Keeping it secret only hurts the program’s recruiting and delaying the announcement doesn’t help anything...not recruiting and not COVID optics.
December 5th, 2020 at 1:17 AM ^
Unfortunately believe you're giving Warde too much credit. He did hire Howard I will give him that, otherwise he has been a disappointment.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Rip off the band aid before the next coach gets caught with an even bigger roster issue. I think hitting the transfer portal will be key to next season. After OSU is canceled Harbaugh can take NFL offers and somewhat leave on his own terms. That gives our coach a good head start. Wishful thinking I know.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:41 PM ^
My only hope is that this portends good things with the departure of some defensive staff members.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
Warde sucks. Make a fckin decision you idiot
December 4th, 2020 at 6:56 PM ^
He's not gonna make a decision mid-season. This isn't the NFL
December 5th, 2020 at 1:20 AM ^
Do you know we've had 4 coaches fired already this year, during the season: So.Miss, Utah State, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:55 PM ^
Holy fuck. Fire everyone involved.
was also told that rooks was leaning BC. This staff is incompetent. And no I’m not Maizen’s burner, check my history lol.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
Well, his original leaders were Penn St and Michigan and they are both dumpster fires so that makes sense for him.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:11 PM ^
That’s my point. If you’re losing recruiting battles to those schools in year 6 then it’s time to blow it up
December 5th, 2020 at 7:45 AM ^
I’ve said this before. The narrative that Michigan needs to blow it up is CAUSING these difficulties in recruiting to a large extent. Kids generally don’t want to go to a school that’s about to lose it’s coach. As long as the prevalent narrative on social media and from national media is that Harbaugh is on his way out the door, recruiting is going to suffer a bit.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
Yeah, but when we hire Hafley, he'll come along too.
December 4th, 2020 at 5:57 PM ^
Yes, let's just ascribe assumed reasons to his decision and go with that as fact.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:03 PM ^
Dude, he's been considered a Michigan lock for the past few months up until a few days ago. Something obviously happened and considering the state of our coaching, it's pretty safe to assume what happened
December 4th, 2020 at 6:06 PM ^
Read a snippet where Harbaugh and Dudek were handling his recruiting as of late instead of a defensive coach. That seems ominous to me on that side of the ball.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
Our $450k a year, work from home defensive back recruiter wasn’t working on closing the deal?
Will we ever get the story behind Shoop?
December 4th, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
Neither one of our backfield coaches recruit well. Shoop is MIA and Zordich apparently doesn't recruit either. I'm ok with that entire side of the ball going to be honest.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:57 PM ^
I’d settle for much less than 450k to sit at home every day.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:11 PM ^
Yeah something happened like Michigan played football this season. And I thought the Rutgers victory was going to provide a recruiting boost?
December 4th, 2020 at 6:42 PM ^
Dude, you're still ascribing unconfirmed reasons based on your own (heavily) biased view of the Michigan program.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
Thank goodness we didn’t get about her 3 star defensive back
December 4th, 2020 at 6:23 PM ^
Recruiting does seem to be an unorganized mess. However, it seems we had a decent recruiting year coming into the season. My question is what is Harbaugh telling these guys and their parents about his future? They must ask I would think. That is why I think he has to have had some kind of extension on the table.
December 4th, 2020 at 7:18 PM ^
You think they have an extension worked out they aren’t talking about? Even if they were still negotiating... dude explain to me what they gain by hiding it.
Cheers.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:28 PM ^
cool, please keep posting about every recruit for which we have been favorites that chooses someone else because of our coaching uncertainty. really excited to keep being reminded about this shit every day until signing day.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:34 PM ^
Yeah, let's go back to the covid and coaching search threads, those were uplifting.
December 4th, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
that's a weird response to my post.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
seriously, let's extend Harbaughs contract already.
December 4th, 2020 at 6:38 PM ^
No thanks
December 5th, 2020 at 1:23 AM ^
...are you joking?!?!
December 4th, 2020 at 7:05 PM ^
This is another reason to get rid of Harbaugh. I want a coach that can recruit the state of Michigan. I know Thompson is from Missouri. I don’t think Harbaugh is evaluating this kids properly. They also are not developing these kids. It’s time for a fresh start. I was a huge Harbaugh supporter. But I’m done with him.
December 4th, 2020 at 7:20 PM ^
1. I think JH has avoided the conversation with WM since season started. Got a feeling everyone is sitting on their hands hoping this resolves itself. Is it really a stretch to think WM told JH - hey .... let’s wait till after season to discuss extension. From JH perspective, nobody told him he was going somewhere. So .... he thinks he is staying right here.
2. D-side of ball is house cleaning at end of season. You can bank on this one. Would explain the lack of enthusiasm on that side of ball.
3. Recruiting will end in a mess.
December 4th, 2020 at 7:59 PM ^
The kid will be playing his college ball less than an hour from home.
December 4th, 2020 at 8:33 PM ^
I have seen where Rod Moore and Andrel Anthony have both reaffirmed they are signing on Dec 16th
December 4th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
Maybe because Mike Golic is talking about Jim's job status for 3 hours straight on Saturday.
This will continue until they announce an extension or move on.
December 5th, 2020 at 1:24 AM ^
Move on, he must move on!
December 5th, 2020 at 4:53 AM ^
Harbaugh told him Brown was on the way out
