Big 10 "Re-Vote" Set for Tomorrow?

Submitted by DTOW on September 2nd, 2020 at 9:00 PM

I was hesitant to even post this as I originally saw it on Twitter from this Sir Yacht character but now some other sources are picking it up.  That said, there's some reporting that the Big 10 Presidents will hold a re-vote tomorrow to begin the season on October 10th.  9 yes votes are needed to pass it with schools being able to opt out.  Sounds like they may have the votes to pass it with Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, and Northwestern opting out until the 2021 fall season.  Additionally, the reporting says there will be schedule changes, further safety measures in place, and potentially rapid tests being distributed to all athletes regardless of what sport they participate in.

Again, I have no idea how reputable this is but its out there with some smoke billowing.

Quote from yahoo sports article "Big Ten sources didn’t just deny President Trump’s claim that the league returning "immediately" was at the “1-yard-line,” they laughed at it." Yahoo sports Sept 1

Then the Athletics article on the court ruling that the Big has til Sept 12 to produce more document  ran 9-2.

OSU is living in another universe.

I think most will vote "no" just so they can deprive OSU of a shot at a title.  I'm all for it.  Let's hurt their national perception and bring them down a couple pegs.  Let them play in the spring with the MAC.  LOL!

Anybody else get the sense that the general level of anger about pretty much anything is continuing to grow each day and really starting to get out of control. By October we may have the talking cars Tuesday thread involve death threats.

Somebody needs to put together an after school special with an all star cast for the country on anger management. The Rock could host.

This type of “reporting” is classic evidence of trying to either a) drive a personal agenda, b) generate clicks, or c) both.

every once in a while one of those rumors proves to be true and they say “SEE!!! I was right!!! All you idiots doubting my sources are stupid!”

of course they were very wrong the previous 500 times, but they don’t care about that

Only team I trust to do it right is Michigan. And otherwise I don't think its wise to pretend everything is OK and to have things that resemble normalcy like football.  We don't deserve it.

Actually I think they need 60% of the schools to vote not to play in order to cancel the season. So basically all we need is for 5 schools to vote "play" and they will play. Three have already voted play, so, unless I've missed something, only two more "play" votes are needed.

Hopefully they get it done. Can't prove student athletes are more in danger playing than not playing. Covid is ubiquitous. Playing a sport does not increase risk, may actually reduce it. Athletes who are playing will get it. Athletes who are not playing will get it. Students doing distance learning will get it.
