I hate this weather. My electric bill was $100 more this month than last, and last month wasn't cheap either.
I picked up some grass fed, organic, strip steaks, nice portabello mushrooms, and corn. All of it is going on the grill at some point, and I'm skipping the starch because there is no fing way I'm using an indoor kitchen appliance today.
Sometimes I wish I still kept booze in the house. I would love an ice cold beer.
Late to this thread but last night I made chicken phad thai. It was good. Better than most phad thai that I've had at restaurants that specialize in it. I don't use fish sauce mainly because my wife is allergic to fish. But also I think fish sauce sort of ruins the taste.
What do you use instead of fish sauce? I do my pad thai with fish sauce, tamarind puree, and palm sugar, and I reduce all of that down in a separate pot first- party to get the palm sugar to dissolve, but that also tames down the fish sauce funk just a bit, and and it does a better job of getting the sauce down to a syrupy consistency, since my stovetop doesn't have enough horsepower to do that in a wok with everything else.
My wife and I went for a bit of a drive around here, stopped at a local cider mill for hard cider slushies on their back porch, and then grabbed takeout burgers on the way home.
Tomorrow, we're visiting one of my students for their open house, they just graduated high school. Apparently, the party is outside with widely-spaced small tables.
We also went to a graduation party yesterday. The young lady received a bowling scholarship to Alabama State University. She just got word that her freshman bowling season is canceled.
No combox for your political thread on city council seats? Why not?
All day IPA, burgers and wings, queso dip, salsa, 5 layer dip, guacamole, probably playing washers, euchre, maybe cribbage. In other words, “stuff”
+1 for cribbage. Played it for hours and hours when I was in my twenties.
Played golf this morning, at about the level of my 18 index.
Currently my “wet” baby backs are on the Weber w a creole spice. Drinking cheap chardonnay for the time being.
Its hot AF.
It's perfect here in Portland, OR. We're drinking bourbon with muddled, smoked peaches and mint from the garden. Thanks Traeger!
I've been/will continue replacing/moving/hanging TV's... Bought a new 65" for the living room, the old will go upstairs to a family room, and the one in there will get moved into the kid's room. Of course, I have a wife, so the living room wall needed to be repainted before the new TV goes up. So here we are, waiting for paint to dry before I can hang the damn thing. Got a late start due to dog vet visits and grooming appt's.
I feel for the people that have to work outdoors in this crap. Having trained dogs for a long time, I can tell you that there are very few days in the year that are really nice to be out and working in - and this weekend isn't among them!
Late to the party but I’m here. I grilled some pork chops, burgers, hot dogs and jalapeño & cheddar brats. Grilling and fishing are great reasons to drink beer in the morning!!
