OT: Anybody else going to shit appearance-wise during 'stay at home'?

Submitted by RGard on May 5th, 2020 at 7:39 PM

Yea, I'm posting a pic of myself here.  To be fair I'm not much better looking without the beard.  This is 3.5 weeks worth of growth. I grew a beard back in 2000 and it was all brown.  20 years later and it looks a bit different.  I haven't trimmed it all.  The Michigan cap is about 20 years old.

I've been working from home for the past few weeks and have no camera on my PC so I don't have to worry about co-workers seeing this look.

Ok folks, who else?

I've been doing body weight workouts at home and walking a lot, but that doesn't compare to hitting the gym, where I was setting some weightlifting PRs. So

There is a fellow lifter here all this time and I never knew :)

The worst thing I've eaten in the past 7 weeks or so was a single piece of frozen birthday cake from a few months ago.

Good for you man.  I've had the intention of eating better, and with my typical routine of work & lifting I typically do really well, but my diet has definitely suffered during this social distancing thing.  Not getting to the gym makes it harder for me to stay connected to my goals which usually leads to me eating more junk food :/

Mixed bag, got clippers and decided to give myself a mohawk for the first month. I mean what the hell, when am I going to get to have a fun haircut again. Shaved it off today and its true what my wife has been telling me all along, I look like a cop with a shaved head. Other than that its pretty meh. Down 5 pounds after putting on 12 so mixed bag

I’ve probably put on a little weight. I was pretty religious about hitting the gym at least five days a week, occasionally six, but my eating habits (at least during the weekend) leave a lot to be desired. So I could hold steady on my weight, give or take a few pounds. Now the gyms are closed and even when they reopen, I’m waiting until at least August to go back, since we’ve got a baby on the way in July. Not risking get the Mrs. sick.

I go on at least two long walks or one solid run per day, but it’s not the same. And my eating habits definitely haven’t changed. But I’m not drinking as much and will be drinking even less in the coming months so I’ve got that going for me.

I honestly look like crap. Hair is long, beard is out of control, and I’m usually dirty from working around the house.
On the rare occasion. I go to town, I wonder what other people think. Then I I realize that I don’t care. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

The hair is headed to Back to the Future to 1970 me except it’s grey this time around.

I’m still shaving every other day or so, because the beard is really grey these days.  I’m not looking for a job as Santa Claus.

I stopped trimming my beard because my hair was growing out.  normally I take the beard off by now as it’s a winter thing.   Broke down and had the wife try to trim my hair.  Let’s just say it could’ve been worse and That is all.

I've lost 15 pounds since January, but nearly all of that was before the lockdown. But I'm happy that I haven't gained anything since the middle of March, especially since I love to cook and now I've got the time. Walking four to five miles each day helps.

I've let the beard grow, although it does make me look my age (I don't otherwise, nor do I act it!).

My wife cut my hair ever since college, but retired from it last fall. She had to come out of retirement, though, but was only able to cut the front half before she got tired. Her cancer meds (21 days on, 7 days off) make her shaky; there's only about a two day window that she trusts herself with scissors, and her stamina isn't so great. But I look okay from the front for my students and colleagues, and she's the only one who sees the back of my head, so if it doesn't bother her, then it doesn't bother me.

Cancer! Thats no excuse for giving a shitty haircut!!! I kid, I kid.  Best of luck to your wife my dude. Tell her a koala on the internet blog said he's pulling for her. I'm sure it will mean a great deal. Seriously though. Tell her. Maybe she will laugh at my ridiculousness? Worth a shot?

Look at my avatar and tell me what’s depicted is not ruggedly handsome for this station in life.

Just don’t ask about the outstretched finger. Two months locked down … it’s not so much appearance as the various primeval digital aromas. I truly suggest we don’t consider the finger, unless the context is excision on biological warfare grounds.

I am of course disregarding old man ear and nose hairs, the ones in full bloom, because their colorful and aromatic coatings appear to trap virii, bacteria, fungi and molds, larvae, bats, and some colonies of each.

Carry on, mind the gap.

Shaved my head down to a 2 to avoid the full cul-de-sac.  Been mountain biking every other day.  Lifting on the other days.  Suntanning in backyard every day.  Basically the color of a Werther's Original now.  Gotta move that body or it becomes flab.

I've been walking about 10 miles a day since shelter in place started. As of the 15th of April I had lost about 4 inches off my waist. No idea how much I'm down but I'm sure it's a decent amount.

I have definitely put on a few pounds.  A few years ago while on a several week vacation, I stopped shaving.  My wife didn't say anything about it until I said I was going to shave it off.  She said she liked the beard, so now I have a beard.  It tended to get shaggier looking than my hair between trips to the barber, so I bought electric clippers.  Two days ago, I did my whole head with the number four plastic doohickey and trimmed the ear hair and back of my neck. As others who are getting on in years have said has happened to them, my beard is almost all white and gray, while the hair on my head only has some gray in the temples.

I haven’t weighed myself, but none of my old pants fit anymore. I had to go in to work yesterday for about two hours and couldn’t eat or drink anything those pants are so tight

I’d guess I’ve put on at least 10 pounds since I started teleworking 6 weeks ago.

I have no comments on your looks, other than NEVER GET RID OF THAT HAT!   That lid is a classic.   I have 2 Michigan hats with a similar distressed appearance.  They're like the perfect set of jeans.  I will never throw them away, no matter how tattered they appear.

Hah, my beard looks about the same.

I FINALLY got a haircut today, persuaded the wife to do it.  Man, I feel a lot better.  Not perfect, but good enough.  Now I'm deciding if I'm just going to trim the beard down or completely buzz it off.  Too much gray. :(

Lol. I literally shaved my head when I couldn’t get a haircut and haven’t seen the inside of a weight room in 2 months. About to cover all the mirrors in my house.
