First Practice Video

Submitted by MgoSuh on

Looks like this video might have been lost in the shuffle last night, since I was advised to make a thread for it in the CTK Day 15 thread.

First practice video, with a first glimpse of Derrick Green and Shane Morris officially in the Maize and Blue.

I am SOOO pulling for him to have a huge year!  With everything this young man has gone through at M (coaching changes, position changes from WR, S, LB), he has done everything asked of him, and worked hard both in the classroom and on the field.

I think this year is his best chance to shine yet, and he will be a solid contributor in Jake's absence.  Those who stay, man.

Karsch looks good. Hairline's advancing as we'd all expect out of a 4* set of follicles.

seems confortable commenting on the new offense- I'm sure all the offseason work is paying off.

I expect a big season from him.

derrick greens footwork pre handoff and post....dude has quick feet. reminds me of a-trains, coming out of the back field is where momentum is built and he creates a lot.

We haven't run play action on 1st/2nd down the last few years?  I didn't notice/think of that, but it will certainly be nice to see that in the mix.

Wow, the biggest thing that screamed out to me:  Gardner's mechanics look significantly improved.  His arm has more of a slinging motion than a "pushing" motion.  Based on a few minutes on practice footage it's evident he put in a lot of work to relax that muscle memory and kill old habits.  We'll see what happens as more footage comes out and if he reverts back once he starts getting fatigued.

For a guy who was compared to Jason Avant and who people thought lacked elite speed and quickness, Darboh makes a pretty sweet move at about 2:00 of the video.

Just one small video...but Fitz looks good.  Has some burst.  I cant believe he is running so well so quickly after that injury.  Green has nice shoulder pad level though the hole.  Lewan sounds more and more like an NFL lineman.  I hope that Coach Hoke can get on a program and drop 20 lbs.  He looks heavier this year and at his age that is not a good thing.
