I don't know what to think of this: Gameday just posted the TOP for EMU and UM: 40 min to just under 20 min. I know we put up 45 pts, (in a hurry!) but still ...

... we win the TOP but lose the game? Come on, who cares about TOP? I think Brian already blew up the myth about the importance of TOP.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course I'd rather have the points than the TOP. But, considering our questionable D, anything that keeps our offense on the field is good thing, right?

The Lions where up there in TOP last year in the NFL. Helluva lotta good that did.

But the end result is similar and certainly enjoyable. I'm glad Rodriguez uses a run-based spread - i cant stand the Texas Tech, Hawaii pass spreads.

the game was over, but that was a great effort by michael cox at the end...good to see!

Cox was a 3* steal. Good to see him and V Smith getting good carries.

Yeah hopefully he becomes the Minor next year... him, Shaw, Smith and Toussaint is going to be a great combo next year

kills the traditional (read: all time) Michigan averages of something around 18 points in 34 minutes. I'll take the points.

380 yards on 39 carries = 9.7 per carry. very nice

Even if you take away the 90yd Brown run it's still 7.6 ypc. No need to have a great day passing when you can get that.

189 yards and two touchdowns good day for him definitely. Glad he had a nice day running all over emu.
September 19th, 2009 at 3:55 PM ^
yeah that was nice to see...i was waiting and hoping for Carlos to finally break one
September 19th, 2009 at 3:42 PM ^
it was also nice to rest minor and some other players for the upcoming games against the big ten.

RR just complimented the RB depth at his presser and called Minor one of the most physical RBs in the country.

Brandon Minor runs angry.
September 19th, 2009 at 3:57 PM ^
if we just take it to the house every 5 carries or so haha...so of course the TOP will be a bit skewed, good game, GO BLUE!!

I love the way the offense is coming around....Totally fun to watch speedsters flying all over the place and gaps opening up everywhere. Both freshment qbs are exciting to watch and in their own respective styles (Denard has a long way to go in terms of pocket passing) and the RR spread is starting to roll.
That being said, the defense is not where we need it yet. We all expected depth to be an issue, but what is most disappointing are the gaps up front. I am all for the smaller, quicker LBs but only if we can contain the run. I am concerned about when we start playing bigger more tradition big ten lines like Wiscy, Iowa, OSU, Penn St. I think we need to get big Will Campbell some more reps. While with Wiscy and Iowa we can probably stack the lines, as they dont have much of a passing game.....OSU and Penn St. will be a nightmare if we can't stop the run with our base D.
All in all, very exciting and fun team to watch....just hoping the D develops over the course of the year.
