OT: Soccer - USMNT vs El Salvador Gold Cup Quarterfinal Open Thread
The USMNT takes on El Salvador, second place team from Group B, in Baltimore.
Game time is listed as 4PM ET, but coverage starts at 3:30.
TV: Fox, Univision
Four changes to the roster: Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, Alan Gordon and Eddie Johnson. Gonzalez has not yet reported, will be available if the US advances to the semis. Onyewu is out, due to concerns about an ankle injury suffered against Belize; Gomez is out due to a knee issue. Corey Ashe and Jack McInerney are also out.
Diskerud! 5-1 USA!!!!!
Has Donovan earned his spot yet?
This is just getting ridiculous. This is our B team. It's not like we are missing 3 or 4 starters, we pretty much swapped the entire team. Have to love the direction this team is heading in.
on Donovan on American soil.
Ugly Salvadoranism.
just toying with people.
U-S-A! U-S-A!! U-S-A!!!
We get the winner of Honduras vs Costa Rica, who are playing at 7PM in this stadium.
I specifically clicked on this thread to see if someone had posted this gif yet! I knew it! You never disappoint MGoBoard!!!!!
Honduras is in BIG trouble Wednesday night. The way we're playing... anther 4-1, 5-1 game is looming. Teams just run out of speed in the last 30 against us; it's not fair, us subbing in Shea and Johnson when their players are gassed, and just looping around their backs time and time again. Its surgical.
And we passed Mexico in FIFA standings today.
Glad to see some new blood, would have been third game vs Costa Rica in about 4 months, and second in two weeks. I expect the same "10 back" defense that Costa Rica would have played but at least some new faces. Panama v Mexico will be interesting in the fact Panama beat em early in the tournament so it will be interesting to see if that was a fluke or Mexico is just that bad right now (we know they are struggling). Panama and US seem to be the 2 hottest teams at the moment. THat said of course would rather play (and beat) Mexico!
