If there ever was a contest for most overrated sports figure in the US, Dempsey would definitely be among the finalists. He gets so much publicity in the US and is an average EPL player. Go Sunderland!
Agreed that he is average in the EPL, but he is the best we have got with Howards age catching up with him. Have to cheer for the Yank.

Disagree with the passion of a thousand suns. Dempsey is the leading scorer amongst EPL midfielders this season.
He is the reason Fullham are in the top half, and he could easily hold his own on a top 4 team (maybe not Man City because of their style of play)

He may be overrated by Americans, but he is having a pretty fucking good season. I know I'd be more than happy to have him at Wolverhampton.
It's an incredible achievment for a US footballer to even be considered average in the EPL. Those fuckers eat, sleep, and breath football from the day they're born. For an American to even be competitive it really is quite an acomplishment.

First:
* I've embraced the idea of soccer as "The World's Sport" and I've enjoyed watching parts of several World Cup games. Sophistication of the game aside, I _generally_ find it boring as pure entertainment, but I'd still pick it over baseball and NASCAR on TV. For what it's worth, I think it's a great sport for kids.
* Sports coverage on TV was boring before ESPN got big. Trust me -- I'm old enough to know.
To the congratulations part of the message:
Congratulations to ESPN, a network that I now loathe (aside: http://www.theonion.com/articles/report-only-matter-of-time-before-a-sp…), for successfully creating demand (viz, for overseas soccer) where very little existed. MANCHESTER UNITED has joined TIGER WOODS, YANKEES AND RED SOX, KOBE, PEYTON, et al. on SportsCenter and no one seems to find that odd. Amazing. Maybe not as amazing as televised poker games (FML ... seriously), but still amazing ...
Televised poker is one of the most incomprehensible things to me. Do people really want to watch four guys play cards on TV?
is winning, sun is shining, everyone knows the score of the dook game, what more could you ask for (other than mich still in the tourney and an endless supply of hopslam and KBS)
Forza Rossoneri!
see ya in a few weeks.
what a terrible draw. they need to fix it so there is some sort of power rankings so the two best teams aren't playing like this till the end.
milan needs to beat juve tues by 2 goals to stay in the coppa italia, something that seams to be difficult for them. El Shaarawy should be rested well by then.
Bolton's Muamba had a heart attack on the field earlier; good to hear that he is alright.
He was/is critically ill in the hospital, scary scene reminds me alot of the Jiri Fischer situation. Hope he makes a full recovery.
