Josh Helmholdt: Michigan fans should be on commitment watch
Michigan fans should definitely be on watch RT @Tiggs_14:@JoshHelmholdt does that mean a @umichfootball commit is soon to follow? #goblue
The prevailing thought is of course Sam Grant, but this could be Armani Reeves. People on the Penn State scout free board are saying that his in home visit with Coach Hoke went quite well.
I say bring back the two at a time commits! Grant&Reeves!
January 22nd, 2012 at 12:55 PM ^
he's talking about Grant.
January 22nd, 2012 at 12:58 PM ^
The point about Reeves still stands though.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 PM ^
Reeves could commit at some point. But when Helmholdt says people should be on commitment watch, he means because Grant decommitted from BC.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:02 PM ^
If you know anything about Josh, is that Josh always says the name of the recruit when asked. Notice, he never mentioned Sam Grant's name in the tweet. It is most likely Grant, but Josh is tricky sometimes.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
Helmholdt tweets that Grant decommitted from BC. Someone asks him if this means Michigan fans should be on commitment watch. He says yes.
Not sure how you would read that as being about anyone other than Grant.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:12 PM ^
We'll have to see, because the last I heard, Sam Grant wasn't deciding until closer to signing day,
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:24 PM ^
Signing day is in a week. and Grant has 2 in-homes this week. So Helmholdt's timeline and Grant's coincide perfectly. Furthermore, I don't think Josh's post about Grant means UM will land him. I'm sure he'd tell an OU fan they should be on committment watch as well.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:29 PM ^
I heard it's Dee Hart.

January 22nd, 2012 at 7:01 PM ^
Hey hey HEY!
January 22nd, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
but he is replying to a previous tweet about Grant. It's been a while since we had a pair of recruits commit back to back lets get that going again!
January 22nd, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
Garnett announces this week too
January 22nd, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
I feel bad for Ron Thompson.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:34 PM ^
I'm assuming because Thompson was extremely high on Michigan, only to have 2 TE spots fill up before he could commit. Then, after he committed elsewhere, we look for a 3rd TE.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:26 PM ^
The coaches had/have concerns about Thompson. They had a chance to get back in on his recruitment and took a pass.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 PM ^
Aren't we always on the commitment watch?
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
Last night, the Ohio message boards were full of people yukking it up and congratulating themselves on landing Reeves. They think it's a done deal.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
that fits.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:25 PM ^
that's more like it.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:09 PM ^
Not sure how a fan base can be claiming victory for a recruit who has another teams coach in his house that day, that reportedly went quite well.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:14 PM ^
Where is this being reported? Haven't seen anything.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:17 PM ^
Free boards for the Scout's Penn State site, and Michigan premium boards.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:17 PM ^
I wouldn't call it "reported" as it was mainly fan posts, but it was all over Eleven Warriors and Bucknuts.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:21 PM ^
Most biased board I've ever read. Seriously read the shot their users post on there and see it for yourself.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:32 PM ^
Remeber the posts about the expected Kalis decommit once St. Urban was hired?
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:57 PM ^
they thought he was in the bag and when Tressel flew the coop he got out of that shit hole.
January 22nd, 2012 at 3:25 PM ^
My personal favorite was that Kalis wasn't really decomitting but he was actually coming up to visit Michigan and steal our recruits, I am dead serious they really thought this was happening. They are an interesting bunch.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
...my characterization of them yukking it up.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:11 PM ^
We don't have him yet either, and at the rate Meyer cheats they could be right.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
When has Meyer cheated? If you know something no one else knows you should share.......
Otherwise you look like a weak fan with a chapped ass
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
Reeves going to osu would be the first real disappointing miss of this recruiting class to me. Hoke was in contact long before Meyer, Michigan was second on Reeves list before he committed, and this the roster could really use a change with some size.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:28 PM ^
Its tough when you god brother as Webb called him goes to OSU. Webb is encouraged that he set up with Mattison this week as his last visit.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:07 PM ^
Tuesday matty will be at his house!!!!
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
Buckle up.
January 22nd, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
Rather unbuckle.
January 23rd, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
All I know is,… Clark, I want be there whenever you have a buckling party!! (or unbuckling even),
Yeah Baby!!!
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:11 PM ^
Recruiting is finally starting to wind down. So, right now we are in great position for Grant, Diamond, and Garnett, and have a good chance with Reeves, as well. Throw in some random recruit on signing day, and we have a fantastic class. Kind of odd to see a kid like Grant with such great TE offers so low ranked, but whatever.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:15 PM ^
Josh Hemholdt also just tweeted:
Crete, IL CB Anthony Standifer RT @RealChewy Loved my visit at ND the coaching staff and support system is great... Definitely #1 on my list
It makes you wonder why we parted ways with Standifer. If his grades cut it to go to ND then his grades would be good enough for Michigan. I know the full story never came out but it was widely rumored to be an academic issue. It would have been nice to have him in the class especially if we cannot land Reeves.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:28 PM ^
Probably he didn't like his chances for pt. That's usually the case when players de-commit from top-level teams. But they'll never tell you that.
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:38 PM ^
but we pulled the offer
January 22nd, 2012 at 1:41 PM ^
Sounded mutual, if memory serves.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:28 PM ^
Playing time was not a concern for Standifer. We're not particularly talented or deep at the cornerback position.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:27 PM ^
His grades are good enough. It's other academic-related stuff that was a concern.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:38 PM ^
What does that mean?
January 22nd, 2012 at 3:07 PM ^
Test scores maybe
January 22nd, 2012 at 5:23 PM ^
I don't know, but it sounds like academic dishonesty
