NICE! even if PSU has a coach by then, i'd be turned off by the fact that it is taking them forever to hire one. doesn't show stability.

The last time PSU hired a head coach was in the late dark ages. Give them a little bit of credit, I'm sure they are looking for the clay tablets they took notes on last time around.

Sure they can. OSU used Tressel to speak to the football team before they got beat.

Man, you think we were babes in the woods when we went to hire a football coach from the outside for the first time in 40 years, Penn State has not hired a football coach from the outside since the 1940's.
JoePa lost the keys a long time ago to the file cabinet with the contract forms.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
Well Penn State has some bigger fish to fry than worrying about a football coach right now, and if he wasn't turned off by the state of that program before than I don't want him here. I seriously don't understand how anybody could even consider Penn State for the foreseable future.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
That's why he is visiting us in the first place!!!
December 22nd, 2011 at 5:04 PM ^
I know, that was my whole point. All I was trying to say is that I would hope he's more concerned by all of the disgusting acts than the fact that they're not hriing a coach right away.
December 22nd, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
We were . . .
Penn State!
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
Maybe he'll be solid in a commitment as well

curious to see if he visits before Yuri Wright, same weekend, or after. I would take either kid as our 2nd corner w TRich
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
Its not beyond the realm of possibility that we get both Reeves and Wright. We were interested in Wright long before Anthony Standifer decommitted so I assume the plan all along was to take 3 corner backs.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Armani has the added benefit of being recruited as a WR by a few schools too, while Wright has been pegged as a CB or possibly FS so both can do occasional double duty.
December 22nd, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
Yuri looks like a better choice. He's 6'3" 180lbs and is ranked 57th nationally . Reeves is 5'9" 185lbs and is ranked 213th nationally.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
Yuri Wright visiting sometime in the first 2 weeks of January too. #3 and #17 CBs in the country visiting within a few days of each other.

It was January before Michigan hired a coach last year, and that turned out pretty well.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
because we are Michigan FERGODSAKES.

We fired Rodriguez on January 4th and hired Hoke on January 11th. PSU fired Paterno on November 10th. This could be the longest coaching search ever as it is guaranteed to last at least until January 3rd.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
Personally want him more than wright. Hope we can get him to make the switch.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
Wright would be soooo much better for future recruiting. Don Bosco prep is rated as the #1 high school football program in the country right now by Maxpreps. I can haz pipeline?
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
Good Counsel and Don Bosco are schools that I want as pipeline schools.
We have offeredalready Dorian O'Daniel from GC and Al-Quadine Muhammad from Don Bosco.
Edit: Forgot to mention Kendall Fuller from GC who already has double digit offers from the top programs in the nation.
December 22nd, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
We got a good one last year from GC already :o) wish we had hooked a few from those schools in 2012, though. Maize would look pretty good on them, after all.
December 22nd, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
Yeah half of the Bosco team are D1 prospects ! But, I know some poster here and at 247 think that Wright is raw and won't be able to contriute early like he wants. Armani seems like the safe bet and can also contribute in the return game.
here is fellow mgoblog poster's analysis of him:

I too hope we can land both. TRich and those 2 have so much upside. We've had trouble finding even 2 good enough to play lately but Mattison rotates defenders in all the time so we can have 4 or 6 going at once if they're all good enough.
December 22nd, 2011 at 7:03 PM ^
You hit on one of the things that I really like about Mattison -- rotating guys in. It seems like it would be pretty unusual that the first string is still better than the alternative if the first stringers are dead tired or injured, but you see the first stringers going wire to wire all the time.
December 22nd, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Yeah, the guy who was the defensive coordinator for the Ravens doesn't know what he is doing when he rotates guys.
Damn, Michigan fans really can bitch about anything.

I agree that Wright is still very raw, but our coaches have shown that they are good teachers of technique.
We have okay depth at CB, but if Wright and Reeves both come in this class, they will most likely jump some people who are currently on the roster.
December 22nd, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Wright is very raw but extremely athletic with a physical skill set smiliar to the great Nnamdi Asomughas.... it doesnt get better than that... with time to develop he could be really special... I seen him at a camp over the summer and I must say dude is a stud... I know first hand how Raw he is though... We worked on technique by each other and all i'll say is he needs some work but the upside is clearly there.

Him, Terry, and Wright would take us from one of the worst secondaries a year ago to possibly the best in a year or two.
