Updated: Stefon Diggs News (Not Good News)
Updated with Chris Balas tweet and Scout board link.
Stefon Diggs going to Michigan isn't going to happen.
First, here's what Diggs had to say:
“I was going to go to Michigan, but as of now, I’m not sure,” he said. “Maybe Auburn or Florida. I’ve got four left, so we’ll see how it goes.”
The deal breaker betweent the coaches and Diggs took place last weekend though. Apparently Diggs and the coaches had an arrangement for an in-home visit but Diggs took an official visit to Cal instead, without telling the coaches. So the coaches showed up while Diggs wasn't there.
This, something else, or maybe a combination have caused the coaches to make the decision to not continue recruiting Diggs. Again, it's by the choice of the coaches, not by Diggs, that he is no longer being recruited.
A lot of questions were getting asked in the other thread so I figured I'd make another thread to answer because it seems like the news would be of interest to a lot of people.
Update
A few people didn't believe me so here is what Chris Balas tweeted:

Don't expect WR Stefon Diggs at Michigan next year, but U-M will take another receiver in this class. Might find out who sooner than later.
And a link to a Scout board, skip the first one and the people fighting about spelling and you have multiple posters corroborating what I posted:

That's pretty irresponsible of him to schedule an official visit and not let the coaches know that are traveling to see you. Again, I tip my hat to the coaching staff for not putting up with b.s. from recruits that think their shit doesn't stink. Isn't he the one that said he wants to go to a school that's going to make him a better man? Well it looks like he just burned the bridge to the school that probably would've given him the best shot at achieving that goal.

This is the type of thing that makes people question Diggs' character...
...and yet when we questioned his character in the past, many people got upset.
Where there's smoke there's often fire when it comes to recruiting. Rumors don't just start for no good reason.

I don't remember the Diggs character conversation, but the fact that some/most rumors are true doesn't mean that all rumors should be spread. That's especially true when the rumors are about high school kids that we haven't met.

I'd like to have someone with his talent commit to the school obviously, but only if they truly want to be here.

Then I don't want this kid in a winged helmet. I'm not saying all of our recruits have to be saints, but some basic respect for others seems like a good starting point. Best of luck, Mr. Diggs.

"Ain't no use in havin a tiger in the house, if it's just gonna turn around and bite ya in the ass"
Too bad he seems flakey - would've loved to see this guy in the slot catching passes in the big house.

Per this twitter message,
"Michigan coaches were seen at Good Counsel HS (MD) today, visiting w/ 5-star WR Stefon Diggs & 4-star RB Wes Brown."
In theory, Diggs still could have arranged an in-home with these coaches, invited Hoke to join them, and then skipped out of the scheduled in-home visit.
But the fact that coaches met with Diggs at his school makes me wonder if we have the whole story.

1. You can't "get" them all.
2. Trust the coaches. They know what they are looking for and what they aren't.
