NCAA 2010 - PS3 Dynasty

Submitted by emmekel on
I am going to start a PS3 online dynasty tonight. I would like to add some mgobloggers to the league. Please respond with your gamertag and the team you want to play with. I will be playing with Oklahoma. You will get your invite tonight after 7pm central.

Not only do I have an extra human game against ACC GA Tech to end my season, but I have an extra human game against B12 OK State to *start* my season. My other non-conf are PAC10 AZ State (hopefully not also a human, thrivemusic), and FCS Tennessee Tech. Gonna be a tough season here in Bulldog territory.

So I am on a Michigan website, with Michigan fans, we're putting together an online dynasty, and I can't be Michigan? Are you fucking crazy? WTF??? I will pick another team if it is a dealbreaker, but I don't believe I just read that. Are any of you actually Michigan fans? Why don't you make some of the people who were in on it last switch to the B10, instead of me (who committed first)? I now get the choice of teams that no one wanted in a conference I don't want to play in? I will play all user teams in the non-conference. The commish can set up all the schedules so that every player has to play at least 3 user teams... Just please let me be Michigan. I am a diehard fan, and playing with another team is like cheating with my wife, dude. Plus, I think you CAN set up custom conferences. I'm not sure, but I think you can - you just take the teams away from one conference and then add them to another afterwards.

Only one of us can be Michigan, chief. After that you're asking us to be another Big Ten team. I'd be willing to bet that most would feel dirty playing with PSU, OSU, etc. Hopefully he can work the custom conference for you, but ease up.

If everyone needed to play as Michigan, we'd never be able to set up a dynasty like this. You can't have 12 Michigans in the game. I think it makes sense to rule that nobody can play as Michigan in this Dynasty. After all, let's assume that the player with Michigan does well in the dynasty; who wants to be forced to play *against* Michigan in the NC game?

am just trying to make the league fair for everyone. no one here is less of a michigan fan because they play as some other team on a videogame. i'll let you slide on that comment without a negative point. i will attempt to make this dynasty a custom conference when i set it up tonight. also if this doesn't work, i am letting you get oklahoma if you want which is rated the #2 team on the game. i am willing to take oregon.

Move Michigan into the ACC, take BC out. That solves the problem I feel. Not like BC belongs in the ACC anyway. Edit: If you do custom conference make sure to switch Florida State with Miami so all the ACC teams are in the Coastal Division together. The Big12 teams all are in the same division, but the SEC teams are not. Edit2: LSU and Tennessee probably need to be swapped as well.

Can we get a firm rule on not doing shit like putting the fastest WRs at QB and FB, then running a crazy triple option? Being a cheap bastard takes the fun out of it for everyone. Also, I'll be on vacation next week and won't be able to play the first game. I'm assuming the commissioner type person can allow simulation?

With the option of custom schedules, I will move Michigan into the PAC-10 and that will solve this issue. Michigan will be swapped out for Washington State. * Final List Big 12 South emmekel - Oklahoma nmt701 - Oklahoma State RichRod44 - Texas PAC 10 thrivemusic - Michigan sizzlechests - Southern California murkelton25 - California SEC East zinzarin - Georgia toronto21 - Florida smassie03 - LSU - will be switched out with Kentucky ACC Coastal ShockFX - Georgia Tech AIRJordan47 - Virginia Tech RBGoBlue - Florida State - will be switched out with Duke * This should be fun. I will allow one week before games are simulated. Week 1 will run through 7/27 and so on after that.

There goes my "just be better than Alabama" strategy to the SEC Championship Game. I like this though; good problem solving gentlemen. Now prepare to meet the wrath of Russell Shepard as I scramble and throw interceptions to the linebackers of the SEC!

Will there be adjustments to the non-conference schedules as well? Removing FCS schools seems like a good idea. As a school with two human non-conference opponents already, I also support adding some other human non-conference games to all schedules.

Everyone please keep their players at their correct position in the game. If you chose not to (rb at qb or rb at te, etc.) you will be kicked out of the league.

ShockFX

You mean doing this outside of personnel packages right? I regularly use stuff like TE in the slot and TE at FB backfields. Also, you can package Safeties in for linebackers in sort of a 4-2-5 hybrid.

Shock, as long as it is something that is reasonable and within the normal gameplan of your team, I am fine with it. It's just the type of thing you described in your first post that should not be allowed.

I agree all FCS teams should be removed from a team's schedule and replaced with a human opponent. I am not sure what type of editing I am allowed once we get into the dynasty but I will attempt to schedule non conf games against the other teams in the dynasty if possible.

I get it that no one wants to be in the B10 against Michigan. I guess I was a little overboard, but I couldn't believe that on my favorite UM site I was not allowed to be Michigan. If you are unable to change the conferences, then I will pick someone else. I don't want Oklahoma. They are one of the best teams in the game, and you have nothing to build up to. That's my favorite part of the dynasty - making a team better than they were... I guess I could take Oregon, and get walluped by USC every year. I am not that good, so losing a few games won't be a surprise. Hey, I have another question. What happens if people play a game vs. the computer and restart before they lose? In the other online dynasty I play in, everyone can see when you start a game over and that should be discouraged/penalized.

...as of 11:35pm EDT there are only 4 people left who have not completed the pre-season stuff. All we need to do is get them to set their teams up, and we can start. This will be fun, and I'm already nervous about all the recruits that I want who have 6-8 other user teams in their top 8. There is a really nice spread of teams all over the nation, and the competetion should be intense. This will certainly help the off-season go by a little faster. Thanks to the OP for starting this up - a very good idea.

In the roster that I downloaded for this dynasty, Steve Brown is listed under middle linebacker. If you play him at safety, his ratings go way down. What I did to solve this is I put him at the WLB spot - this is actually where he will be this year (spinner in the 4-3 under). I just wanted to make sure this is ok with everybody. Also, I was thinking about the reset thing. How about this? If the OP is cool with keeping track of it, how about everybody gets one time to reset? This will be kind of like a mulligan, and it would account for a cable being unplugged or whatever. So if your system goes bonkers once in a season, then it is excusable. Like I said before, the Commish would have to keep track of who had used their one "get out of jail" card, and an overuse of the "mulligan" could result in getting the boot. The one exception would be that there is no mulligan for user vs. user games - that would be bad. Whadya think?

ShockFX

He doesn't actually get worse if you play him at safety(not in the video game anyway). The overall rating at a position is just a mathematical formula based on individual attribute ratings. The only position switches that'll get frowned on are putting a 99speed WR at QB and a 98 speed WR at FB then running the option or shit like that. Don't do deliberately cheap things and no one will care. Same for resetting. Just don't do it. I think we can use the honor system here. Just remember we're playing for fun, and the guy that set it up is probably insanely good at the game and will win anyway.

I agree with everyone that restarts should not be allowed. I will attempt to keep track of them and if it looks like someone is being a tool, I will remove them from the league.

sure if it automatically goes to week 1 after everyone is complete but if it doesn't, I will advance it to the regular season after I get off of work this afternoon.

Did anyone buy the recruiting tools or whatever they're called that were offered? I did not, so I'm just wondering if I should start offering some 2-star guys.

The computer AI must have have improved on all-american or i have just lost my skills with the sticks. I played against Oregon last night and I had to win on a last second field goal. That never happened last year but I guess this is a good thing.

ShockFX

I did a couple exhibitions with GT on All-American before I played my game. New offense, new game, new controls (i last had a gamecube version), etc. I figured it would be necessary. My first exhibition with GT, I lost 34-0, lawl. Offense, defense, everything, I kept hitting the wrong goddamn buttons. Nothing like having 2 option pitches intercepted to realize how bad I am at the game. I got a bit better though after some practice games. The key to the flexbone is being able to use the triple option passes effectively. And it's hard as hell. You have to watch the FB, the pitchman, the defense (zone or man) and then decide to run or pass. The controls are decent for this actually, but there's a brief delay bringing up the receivers that is killing me at the moment. I look forward to playing against a human just to see if it's effective against real people.

what do you think about having a scheduled time where users who play each other that week can come on and play? like every night that week at say 10 eastern time or something like that? thoughts?

zinzarin

July 22nd, 2009 at 9:38 AM ^

I don't think this will work; everyone has different schedules. I think that the humans playing each other should work out when they can play between themselves. Is there an in-game messaging system to help facilitate this? If not, we could all join Skype or something and coordinate that way.

StevieY19

July 22nd, 2009 at 9:54 AM ^

There is a messaging function if you hit the PS button to get to the menu. Just note the username you want to message and you're set. Worked great last night to set up our game, though I probably should have pretended I wasn't online so I didn't get USC'd.
