Open thread: Stanford versus Oregon

Who you got in this game?

I have Stanford.

Stanford doesn't have an answer to the Oregon ground game.  I like that sleeve LaMichael James is wearing; it seems interesting and useful, like a club for a DB (I assume it helps him grip the ball more tightly).

405 mills in total donations from Phil Knight to Oregon and Stanford.  Amazing.  Apparently the going rate for a high-end business school is around $100 million dollars.  Ross B-school cost around 100 million, as I recall, and Knight's donation to Stanford for their business school was listed as $105 million by the announcers.

oregon goes for 2 on its first TD but they don't go for 2 on this last TD when it makes sense.  making the 2 would put them up 21 not 20.  we'll see if it comes back to bite them.

And fast. I was at the Oregon/Cal game last year, and Oregon ran down 10 minutes on their final drive -- without scoring. They can do slow-motion when they want to, in addition to the whole warp-speed thing.

When did Musberger start calling all the players by their first names?  Did I just never notice this until now?

It's like listening to George Blaha call a Pistons' game.

Is it just me or is Stanford looking fraudtastic? Sure the 3OT win at USC. But then Minnesota almost did the same thing.

Stanford was out-coached, badly, but that doesn't make them fraudulent. They have a ton of major injuries, especially at WR, right now that really reduced their ability to keep pace.

David Shaw might be a fraud as a head coach (he could not have responded to Kelly's play-calling worse), but what Harbaugh built is for real. They would beat anyone in the B1G by a good 20 at the moment.

After being deprived of them for several years I find them especially beautiful these days.  Heck, Phil Dawson kicks more field goals than Cleveland scores TDs.  Then again, any excuse to get this beautiful mug on my TV set is fine by me.

phil_dawson Look at that man's jawline. Look at it. He is the model for every square-jawed jersey-wearing Midwestern rust-belt football player out there.
