Shane Morris Selected to 2013 Under Armour Game

Am I just a n00b or do they usually send invites for All-America games this early? Don't get me wrong, very happy for Morris, but wow, this seems early.

I would bet he knows this. MHSAA prohibits any high school player in the state from participating in all star games. total b.s. but they would nail him if he did. Any senior from MI that does is ok as long as they are willing to not play a spring sport. Good for Shane though !

He didn't get selcted for this years game, smart guy. He is selected for the game next year, as it is a SENIOR only game. So yes, if he decides to not do spring sports next year, then I would expect to see him play in one of the two All-American games.

Him a 5* equivalent on ESPN since it is their game?
October 6th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
ESPN is VERY high on him. he was the only junior to play at that game last year. should definately be around where Ryan Mallet was (85, 5*)

I'd rather him play in the Army AA game, but hopefully he'll get his choice.

seconded.

Why does it matter?
October 6th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
Some consider the AA game more prestigious, but honestly, I don't think it really matters. I mean Clownley was at the UA game last year, and he was still pretty damn good I hear.
October 6th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Clowney? And yes, I would say he is better than just pretty good. He was the consensus number one player in the country last year, something that never happens that all of the major sites agree on the number one guy. Rivals named him the best prospect over the last ten years. At this point with UA having now been around for a few years, the talent level of the two games are pretty much equeal.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
I'd disagree about the talent levels. Some of the reason that UA is able to pull in higher-level talent recently is geography (this includes S.C. native Clowney). Some kids just want to stay closer to home so friends/family can go to the game in FL.
Although you can't see expansive video of the practices, there are still highlight videos, an intense combine, and in-depth reporters' analyses.

Using that argument proves my point alone. With the talent in Florida alone, combined with Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Georgia, I would put that up against all the other states combined. Once they pull a few players for their game from Texas and California, and the rest of the other states their game has easily compared to the Army game over the last few years. Not to mention UA got the best player in Michigan the last two years (Gardner/Gholston (both) and Thomas last year), along with the top three from Ohio last year (Grant/DePriest/Miller). Also, UA had the top player in Florida (Clinton-Dix), South Carolina (Clowney), North Carolina (Stephone Anthony), and Lousiana (La'el Collins) last year. There were over 35 kids that played in the UA game last year outside of those six states I mentioned last year. Compare the two rosters from last years games. There is very little difference in the talent level. If you disagree with that statement, then yes, I guess we will agree to disagree.

I could see him choosing to play in the game where his future teammates get invited too, which looks like Army AA at this point
Edit** Stupidly mixing up 2012 and 2013 classes. Crazy that we have such a stud committed already

Congrats to Mr. Morris. Can't wait to see you embark on a long and successful career wearing the winged helmet! Go Blue!

way to go Shane!

UA is trying to get kids before the more prestigious AA game.

I was kidding. I apologize for any offense caused here.

One thing cool about the UA AA game, is that ESPNU shows the practices through out the week leading up to the game. They get a lot more air time compared to Army game.
October 6th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
Does anyone kno if hes the first QB selected to the game for his class?
October 6th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
A couple years ago I went to AA for a few months... Not my choice though..

What do you guys think of Morris as opposed to Drew Henson when he came out of high school? I think Morris is tearing it up!
