I haven’t posted in a long while...

But want to commend you on being willing to bare a portion of your soul and dilemma with us. I’ve long fought a perhaps similar battle and it’s been going on for at least some 15 to 20 years. You are far from alone here. Thanks for sharing, doing what you do for the site and thus us, and best of luck as you continue the fight. Stay up.

Manning

Curious as to his status here. Listed as probable but I can't recall any news on him one way or another, maybe that's how we get to probable. I'd like to see him stay since he seems to be a good recruiter with the right attitude. Also, any update on S&T? Is it definitely 9ers assistant mentioned yesterday? I was under the impression that a staff would roughly be announced today since the first team meeting is today if I'm not mistaken.

Tonight

Is critical if they hope to get something going. Have to beat "inferior" teams and let one go in ugly way at Purdue. I'd love to see the ship righted and momentum shift. Gem lacks confidence me leadership. Wins breed confidence.

Count me in also

If he's obtainable then he deserves a long look. As for asst coaches, I wonder if Coach is just waiting for a mass introduction versus a "here are 2-3 guys while I try to fill out staff." A touch bummed about marrow/turley news but hope/suspect alternatives are in same realm of quality.

Aside from

Obvious ties to past as reason to bring him in, has Ty proven to be a capable coach? I mean, love the guy, but that alone doesn't make him the right coach for this staff, no?

Barwis

Over everybody though I know there's no chance. That old Barwis post is incredible

This might not be the place to say it

But huge props go to Brian and MGo staff for being on top of the Harbaugh search process from the get go. No other site/sources where anywhere near as consistently accurate and close/confident in the story as Brian and crew. It's insight like that which makes this site a must read and go to source for all things Michigan. Much respect!

As far as the recruiting goes, thanks for the tidbits. It'll be interesting to see if Weber in particular flips back since he's a Detroiter if I recall. In any event I trust Harbaugh will get the guys he sees fit best, star ratings be damned. JH will make it work. Let's go!

Or..

I could be the moron using an old version of the app. Always possible when you're wrapped up in Harbaugh consumption for a month. I'll check.

Best day in a long while

I know everyone has been ultra busy but once things settle, the iPad version of the sites app still has "Hoke Springs Eternal" backsplash. Just wanted to mention it.

Now on to a second Christmas Day!!

Tuesday

Will probably be the best day in Michigan football since the national title. There have been exciting times since then, the Denard first night game may come close, but few things can elicit the type of hype that Harbaugh brings. Overjoyed, assuming this goes off as planned, which I am still waiting to make sure he signs on the line which is dotted! Much props to Hackett are in order. Go Fing Blue!

If I was on twitter

I'd light that guy up on general principle.

So true

Mainline to veins

That..

On likely open nfl gigsLikely open nfl gigs

Oakland, they suck and there is clear established leader in afc west in Denver..i.e., probably the most monumental task available to him.

Chicago, has to deal with GB in division. But, he did play there.

Miami or jets, New England is clear leader, does this matter?

Michigan, OSU and/or Sparty are ahead of us as of today, but this seems like perhaps the quickest way to break through to top given resources and support/history.

Not sure what any of this means if much at all to JH but worth debating perhaps in his mind.

I'm going to support this post in theory

I love Michigan and the blog or I wouldn't be here. That said, there is a bit of the don't let the door hit your ass on the way out mentality too often at times. I was particularly disgusted with the treatment of Brandon during this year in particular when the main thing that really mattered was a poorly coached football team. Game day experience is great when team wins for the large part. The blaming of Brandon more so than Hoke was particularly disturbing.

I can get with opinions and I'm fine with that but the unabashed bashing of people is out of line at time. Blaming Brandon in large part for the Shane Morris incident is wack. The mob mentality ouster of him dismissed too often the things that he accomplished here. All that said, we should move on and focus on what's important, the future and getting the right hc in place, not ripping lochdogg, who 99pct of us never even heard of.

An

I'll respect you in the morning blast. Touché.

He's ours

So we wish him well but as of today the guy will do nothing in the nfl. I expect little to zero impact as a rook. Perhaps if he lands in right spot he can become much more in time. As of today, I simply don't see it. It is no surprise he's leaving but also clearly could use another year. A host of kids with less talent have made similar choice so just hope it works out. Go Blue.

Coward

Cowherd=Bob Sugar

The guy is a blowhard.

On the fence at best

I don't see mora winning the games that matter, OSU/MSU, often enough here if hired. Just a hunch. He'd be an option if we swung and missed elsewhere.

Re: Harbaugh, while he doesn't seem one to run from challenges, I get a bit concerned about Michigan looking at him as a savior here. He may feel overwhelmed by our expectations. I wonder if that would be seen as a deterrent at all. It's one thing to come coach here, but to be basically seen as the messiah may be enough to cause him to pass. Idk. Just a thought.

Thank you

For the post that literally has me welling up. And to the under appreciated j-mo, for all the reasons u touched on. His dunk v Syracuse was so gratifying to me as a fan and had to have been euphoric for him. Just epic.

Problem here...

Is how they were supposed to miss Novak/Douglass leadership last year and look how that turned out. We all appreciate j-mo but have faith my friend!!!

Keep it going...

My call for the game was Michigan 72-64, then I saw a first half which was among the worst 20 minutes a team could play. Then I looked up and saw we were within 4. Amazing. OSU offense is mind bogglingly pathetic. We played a great final 14 minutes or so. Kudos to us. This team has been a revelation all year.

There's no doubt

We need a new coach. A real coach and not a figurehead. A guy who has input on offensive play calling. Hoke has been a plus recruiter but you have to be able to coach too. I still believe Brandon screwed over RR. Hoke went 11-2 with his kids and has been declining since as we regress to Lloyd like boring brand of football.

Caris!!!

Go Blue

Question is not..

Did he make the right choice, cause when it comes to football of course he did, but would things have been different if Hoke and Michigan were winning in the last 6 weeks? How much did our obvious regression/lack of progress/questionable future come into play in Hand's choice? Perhaps we'll never know.

One thing missed

Was how good of a coach is Hoke? The recruiting seems to be going swimmingly and in college that's probably the key factor, but strategy also plays a role. This was lightly noted but I think that remains the bigger question mark. Is Brady a good to elite level hc? If so, we're in great hands.

As an aside, great topic, and great work on this site as always. Appreciated!

Well done.

Congratulations on a successful interview. Insightful, engaging, open, a real treat for us all. Thanks.

Perfect call...

Dude bit the hook, the beats, Evrythang. Typical sparty

His crew is clearly hard

Hate to see them in broad daylight.

J reall

I had flo before progressive...

Re: Burke to Pistons

Pistons asked to interview him but NBA said no since they control the interviews. Also, yeah feel same about Pistons and Chauncey.

The beauty of all this...

Is how much discussion this team has generated and will continue to do o going forward. JB has a flexible unit with some guys with clear NBA level talent and some others who may eventually get there. Program is on the rise. All feels good.

The best thing ever

We gotta eat!!!!

Hope he feels that way once agents get to him

But I think he loves college and would really benefit from one more year then leave. Since he and gr3 are so close (roomies, etc.) I hope their decisions to stay become a pkg deal. I do fear gr3 leaving with ford predicting lottery earlier today. He could really use another year too. I'm guessing THJ is gone as well as Burke.

Monster's ceiling

Is so much higher than cardinal or hannsborough. Fwiw why do his comps have to be the same skin color? Really Mitch was the #1 recruit in the us at one point and I think his movement on pick and rolls and passing really shines. Grantland did a piece on him today. Check it out. Mitch deserves btr comps but admittedly I can't one up with one just now. I just know he's got game and his play has really keyed this tourney run.

Wholeheartedly concur...

We won a game in a fashion which rarely happens. Bottle it. Save it. Store it. Try never to forget it. This is why I invest in sports. Period.

Still trippin

On the whole having to shoot in a dome thing. We simply need to shoot the ball well from outside in order to win. I know we can, but not certain we will. This will be a tight contest. If we Ty out of foul trouble I think we can get it done. Hyped! #gobluebaby

Can I take umbrance

with one thing...calling him Spike "Magic" Albrecht. That's a sparty reference. He's referred to as Tragic in these parts. Isiah works just fine as a replacement or Gary Grant or Rumeal, or Jalen or you get it...Other than that, gosh damn, that play had me doing the exact same thing when I watched. Leaping up right with them...

Re: Morgan

I actually thought the same thing about Morgan, especially with the departure of Smotrycz to Maryland. But I think Morgan, who will be a Senior, is not leaving for one year. Even if he had thoughts, thats a lot to give up, re-enroll, new school, new players, etc., Beilein would convince him to stay. I don't see this as an issue. He has guys like Vogrich now, who can attest to the willingness to stay. Much more concerned about THJ and GR3 in particular, leaving for draft. Burke of course is gone...

Fuck yeah

'Nuff said.

Beillein will have an answer

To breaking the havoc. Jut up to kids to execute. Hopefully playing a relative home game can also play into our hands. I don't like his matchup but I do think the pace can help us in spots. This is a tough draw but very winnable. Go Blue!

One point win

Does not seem likely considering our inability to close tight ones. I prefer an 8 pt spread. Don't turn the ball over. Win. Simple enough formula. Please no foul trouble either. I was worried as shit when I knew this matchup was coming but strangely feeling better after our performance last night and more breaking down of havoc D. We'll see. Go Blue!!!

IS Indy soft too?

Wisconsin just bounced them by more than they best us. It's match ups. This tourney is wiiiidddddeeeee open. If Indy is supposed best team in land and we had them down and out, then we aren't far off. Is duke soft? They lost to unranked Maryland in essentially a home game. This is just a wild year. I'm as pissed as anyone but we do have one level of hope here. Lets go!!

Truth

The number one ranking changed expectations for this team. We are young. We are good. Wisconsin owns us but we've won 25 games and will be a top 3 seed in the tourney. We choked off the home game to Indy and lost on a miracle at Wisconsin. We are capable of beating anyone if all goes well. Equally capable of getting bounced in first or second rd if we take a shit. Hope as always been sweet 16 and go from there cuz you never know. Try to enjoy it. The losses frustrate. Questions abound. But we're good now a missed ft or two from sharing second straight big ten championship in the best conf in the nation. There is still hope and I'm ready for a good draw on Sunday. The kids can regroup and go fucking blue! Remember too they are just kids. Ehhh....

I am and you're right...

fair point. Just would have loved to see him (or the team of course) finish today. Hopefully we can make a run, down now, but not out.

Ehhhhhhh.......

One more thing on this and why it is bad, I think it actually puts more pressure on the FT shooter, because he knows if he misses, his team is not getting the rebound. Instead we have 4 guys back to defend one man from the other team. So silly. Especially for a team where FT shooting has been a problem in trying to close teams out over the last two years. Give the kids some confidence!! That is definitely on Coach B.

Definitely true...

but at what point do we point not to luck but strategy? I really like Coach B, but sometimes his strategies befuddle me. Just a thought. Hope it does indeed swing in our favor though...matter  of fact, how about immediately and lets go on a run in this thing!!

Short memory...

It does and it doesn't. He made an incredible play, so techincally yes, but he wasn't being defended, so in that sense, no. Your takeaway from my post is the wrong one though. I complimented the kid and said I loved him, but he has the ball in his hands EVERY game down the stretch and he has continually come up "short" there. Again, love him to pieces, but it is what it is. He generally has settled for the long three but has attacked on occasion and missed there too. I'm not putting this game on him, when he was at the line, I was actually confident he'd convert, but miss again he did in a crucial situation. Maybe he can go on a Kemba Walker type run in the tourney, but its hard to be really confident that it will happen. Gotta really hope that GR3 doesnt go pro more than anything, or next year, we could be thin, esp if Hardaway tries his hand at NBA, and fails, like Manny Harris did. GR3 is the biggest talent we've had at Michigan for the NBA in 15 years or so by my guess off the top of my head, so we need him to come back next year and be legit.

I can't stand that Beilein

I can't stand that Beilein does that, but thats been his philosophy since he came to Michigan. I don't get it either, but maybe if your team rebounds as poorly as this one, it doesnt matter.

This smarts but showed our flaws

Our flaws were on display this game, start to finish. We have enough talent to beat anyone, but enough flaws to lose to anyone.

Make a FT, win the game. Box some poeple out, win the game. Maybe get a call, win the game. Make a tip in that is there for the taking, win the game.

We got destroyed on the glass, a continuous achilles heel. Burke, for as amazing as he is, neve rhit a game winner all year and had tons of chances. (Yes, hes the reason we won 25 games, but still, facts are facts). Indiana is not much better than we are, but they are because they have the heart to close out a game when it matters. We, do not.

Hardaway continues to be the most vexing player on the planet. 1-6 3's, missed front end of a 1-1 at end. This just hurts. Admittedly, I said before season began that Sweet 16 was the goal, and now, that seems about where we can get to, but it will feel like a failure regardless, because of how much we showed this year. Perhaps, we'll get lucky and grow a few balls and make a tourney run, but anyone truly expecting that will/should happen is kidding themselves.

We are a good team in a year with no great teams, so all is up for grabs, but this is a low feeling that you could just see coming once we didnt get the call (even though it was a tough one, it should have been called) and then split at the line from GR3. The rest, you could just see it happening before your eyes like a premonition. Fuck.
