It is so good to hear from…

It is so good to hear from you Ace! You were such a large part of this place when I found it, that i was really sad when you left.  I was thinking about you on the night we won and hoping that you were well enough to truly enjoy the game.  I am grateful to hear that was the case.

Don't ever underestimate the value of sarcasm!  When I was about to be married, my wife's friends asked me to fill out a questionnaire about myself that they were going to use to test my future bride to be on her knowledge of me at her bachelorette party.  One of the questions was what languages do you speak and how well. I wrote that I speak a little French poorly, but that I was fluent in Sarcasm. Her friends were completely floored when my beloved explained that my French was terrible, but I was fluent in Sarcasm! It is a shame not everyone recognizes the true importance of Sarcasm!

Great work gentlemen.  BMac…

Great work gentlemen.  BMac I am sorry that life is getting to feel too heavy right now.  I commend you for trying to take proactive steps to improve your mental health, but I dearly hope that this will not be the last thing you write for this site. Your Opponent Watch columns are like getting that BB gun for Christmas moments for me. I want to thank you for the incredible amount of joy you have given me and the readers of your columns. I hope one day writing them will return to being as much fun as reading them was for me.

Best of luck to you.

Go Blue.

Great write up Alex. Thank…

Great write up Alex. Thank you for all of your hard work.

I don't know if it is bc I…

I don't know if it is bc I have now become so emersed in Mgoblog content that I no longer have free will, but i see the game playing out exactly like that. I think we will throw a bit more in the first half while W loads up the box and then pave them in the 2nd half.  I was trying to get my buddy to bet me that Michigan would throw the ball five or fewer times in the second half. He was not biting.

Michigan 45 - 27.

Thank you for the hard work…

Thank you for the hard work Alex.  I have been anxiously awaiting your write ups.  Not going to get much done today between your two and Brian's preview.

Go Blue  45-27!

or at least they will have…

or at least they will have agreed on how it wasn't their fault that they lost.  Signs - 2022, Flu - 2021.  I am sure the refs are in there somewhere. what will it be this year?

If they ever learn to…

If they ever learn to develop players, we might be in trouble.  Sure hope they don't fire their coach.

I wish I could upvote that…

I wish I could upvote that more than once.

Not me.  I need a three time…

Not me.  I need a three time BigTen Champions Tee Shirt for Xmas

The thing I don't understand…

The thing I don't understand is how the rest of the BigTen doesn't understand that you are living off TV money that doesn't exist without Michigan.  If Michigan leaves the Big Ten, Ohio State has to follow and the other current teams are fucked. Penn St can probably find a good landing spot, but the rest are joining the MAC!

I am personally glad that…

I am personally glad that people don't give a shit about players getting paid against the rules.  People have known about it for years and done nothing, because people believe players should be entitled to the money.  Without that attitude being so pervasive we would not have finally gotten players the NIL money they richly deserve.

(that said what happened to Wake is absurd.)

I firmly believe that…

I firmly believe that Michigan could have won in court, so I am assuming that by settling Michigan removed the possibility of future punishments which might have prevented Michigan from signing Harbaugh to an extension.  We would have not traded away the chance to have Harbaugh on the sidelines for Ohio State for nothing.

Being able to coach during the week is vastly more important than being on the sidelines. Getting the extension signed has to be the priority. If this is the worst that happens, I will consider us lucky.  Also, when we go on to beat Ohio State, the joy I will feel when Ryan Day gets fired will be well worth all of this aggravation.  Go Blue!

I would take issue with this…

I would take issue with this:

"This article is useful in a few ways. One: seems like the bank of mom and dad theory is at least partially correct if Stalions is buying a half-million dollar house on a 55k salary"

As to Connor needing help from his parents to afford his house on a 55K salary, you are forgetting that he would have retirement pay from his 20 years service in the marines.

With the Final Pay system, retirement benefits are calculated by multiplying the final monthly base pay by 2.5 percent for each year of service. If you retire with 20 years of service, you'll receive  50 percent  of your base pay; this goes up to 100 percent after 40 years of service.

Starting pay for a Captain is $4,849.80 per month, with raises for experience resulting in a maximum base pay of $7,890.60 per month.

Let's say for argument's sake that we use $6,000 per month as his final pay, he would be entitled to $3,000 per month in retirement benefits, which would push his income to $81,000 per year.

In addition, this is not his first home.  He owned a home during a time of the greatest increases in home values in the history of home values, so he probably had a very large down payment.

I completely agree with you…

I completely agree with you that it feels that way and Corum still looks a beat hesitant to me and Edwards just does not read running lanes well enough.  That said we have all seen this team run countless suboptimal plays with QB reads turned off into stacked boxes (I am looking at you Army game) But the coaches have earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to game plans for Penn St and OS.  Michigan will have plays ready for this week, which will allow us to run the ball AND make use of Edwards' talents catching the ball.  I know it can be frustrating to watch but keep the faith brother.

Part of that is just old…

Part of that is just old school coaching. Once a team that is up by 14 points gets within field goal range, their play calling gets very conservative because they know if they get up by three scores that should effectively end the game. Michigan is not the only school that does this on a regular basis, but it is definitely how we play up 14 in the red zone.

Black Mirror is excellent…

Black Mirror is excellent. You should definitely watch it.

I hope they continue to…

I hope they continue to believe that the only reason we beat them is because we stole their signs. (Even though they said they changed their signs????) The more time they devote to this nonsense, the less time they spend actually try to counter what Michigan has done to turn the tables on them.

Well stated

Well stated

Corum just seems like he is…

Corum just seems like he is operating at 3/4 speed. I completely agree with Brian on the play he said last year the safety isn't touching him because he is going 1,000 mph and makes his move at full speed well before arriving at the safety. On this year's play, he slows down before making a move, and he gets tackled for three yards instead of making a house call.

I am confused where this…

I am confused where this perception came from.  Bennett was fantastic for Georgia.  I understand that he may not be the prototypical pro QB, BUT HE WAS NOT A GAME MANAGER.

Thanks for putting this…

Thanks for putting this together. it is great!

To blissfully enjoy…

To blissfully enjoy bludgeoning your rival 49-0.

Thanks for the deep drive…

Thanks for the deep drive. Love reading about Michigan.

I think this is exactly what…

I think this is exactly what they were doing, but I don't think it was to work on stopping the passing game.  During the Ohio State game last year, Michigan played with a lot of light boxes and expected the defense to be able to limit the run.  I think this is what they were doing.  They are trying to see just how few players we can devote to stopping the run.

Hey Seth, I wanted to first…

Hey Seth, I wanted to first say thank you for your tireless efforts and fantastic breakdowns. I love reading your work.  I have a couple suggestions for UFRs.  I think it would be great to see season to date charts.  When you were talking about how well Mikey and Mike were playing, it made me wonder how they scored in the previous weeks. It would also be cool to see how well the RBs are rounding into form by seeing how they have done each week in a chart. I would also like to see how the WRs scored week to week with their route pluses. I think my fellow mgoblog readers have proven that we come here to consume every bit of Michigan information we can get.  I think everyone would love to see a week by week chart with a total.

What do you think?

All the best.

P.

i look forward to reading…

i look forward to reading the UFRs every week.  I even want to read them for games we did not win. (even if they are a bit late.)

If I knew how to upvote, I would use my first upvote for this rule.

The amazing part is that he always seems to bless winners.

"We’ve seen Ohio State…

"We’ve seen Ohio State really hang their hat on finding elite players, but also elite people."

When did this happen?  I must have missed that.

I could not disagree more. …

I could not disagree more.  I don't get that much enjoyment out of them losing, but I would have found this loss even more unbearable if Ohio State got to win the National Championship and then pretend that the three score loss to Michigan at home didn't mean anything.

I happen to agree with the…

I happen to agree with the Atheist that I could live without the prayer service with my game. I also agree there isn't much point in picking fights with people on a site like this.  On the other hand, you telling the Atheist to shut the fuck up and leave people of faith alone is all the Atheists are asking of you people of faith to do for us. You don't want to hear our shit, and we don't want to hear yours.

Last year I was able to snag…

Last year I was able to snag a bottle of Weller Full Proof. it is the best bourbon I have ever had. it is pretty close to Pappy, but I liked it better! My wife won't let me finish the bottle until I find more. It might be a while.  I did get a bottle of Weller Reserve.  it is the best reasonably priced bourbon IMO.

I was told to go look only on Wednesdays and Fridays.  That is when they put out the rare items and they don't last the day.

I would just like to state for the record the Buffalo Trace is the most evil entity in the world and we should rise up and run it leaders out of civilized society and return production level to the point that meets demand.

I immediately sent this to…

I immediately sent this to my wife for the same reason.  She is a Northwestern grad, who didn't care about football until Fitz changed that during her years there.  She doesn't understand how our parent's breed this passion into us from as long as we can remember.  She thinks it's cute that I practically lost my voice by the time Edwards broke his second long run, and I am running around the house jumping up and down like a five-year-old. I will never forget this game as long as I live.

I don't think I have ever…

I don't think I have ever read anything that truly captures my Michigan fandom as well as this did.  Great job.

I could not agree more. …

I could not agree more.  Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. It is greatly appreciated.

No amount of coaching was…

No amount of coaching was going to make a difference for Devin Gardner with the offensive line that he had to play behind.

That game and the Army game…

That game and the Army game were two of the most frustrating games in recent memory.  I remember rocking myself back and forth and quietly repeating "How can this be happening?"

I think we will make up for that this week.

I would like to see Moore…

I would like to see Moore get his Star.

Great job.  Appreciate the…

Great job.  Appreciate the effort.

I hate to say it but Karma…

I hate to say it but Karma Bitch!  I am so f'ing sick of seeing the highlight of the 1/1,000,000 way they won a game that we completely dominated.

I remember thinking when I…

I remember thinking when I first started reading Mgoblog and Michigan offense would not gel because 10 players would do the right thing and one guy would make a mistake, that Harbaugh might be trying to instill an offense that would work well in the NFL but was too much to ask of guy a year or two removed from high school. I didn't understand why he was trying to teach such a complicated system.  This is a perfect example of why. The difference between MSU running this play and M running this play is night and day.  It took longer to get here than I thought it would, but the payoff is amazing to watch.

well played sir

well played sir

I could not agree more. …

I could not agree more.  There will be no let up on either side of the ball in this game.

Well played sir.

Well played sir.

I 2nd that!

I 2nd that!

This is a literary master…

This is a literary master piece:

I don’t know what Iowa football is made of. It’s some bizarre combination of the Saw franchise-style torture porn, distilled Stockholm Syndrome, and whatever metal the One Ring from the Lord of the Rings was made from.
