A Wolverine (in Iowa) looks at 50

Been a little quiet the past few weeks, dealing with memories this month.

I hit the big 5-0 this past Wednesday (11/21).  It's been awhile since my birthday week fell in-line with The Game, back in the day, it was much more common.  My family always followed Michigan, but my first year at school was 1986, the year Harbaugh made the guarantee and led the comeback to win The Game 26-24.   That's when I got hooked, when I fully understood what it was all about.

I knew about the 10 year war and Earl Bruce.  I watched the John Cooper years with joy.  I suffered through the Vest, and the Meyer years.  I've seen the ups and more recently, the downs.

This feels like a return....another Harbaugh comeback, but this time he's leading them back in a different way.

So this year, celebrating my birthday, a victory in Columbus.

I've stayed.  Time to be champions.

Hail!

Happy belated birthday! This year certainly does have a different feel to it. Living in Columbus I can tell you that there are a lot of osu fans that have a high anxiety about it. We have them scared, just need to bring it tomorrow. They have had this rivalry here recently, but it's our turn now!!

I was in HS and myself and a couple of friends traveled down to see that game at the Shoe.  We ended up going down and watching the game from the sidelines as there was no security or anyone telling us not to.  I kneeled by the endzone cone and literally players were within a couple of feet of me.  I was by the cone where Wilcher had a TD run at 23:08 in the video above.  In the full game footage, you can see me in the 3rd quarter when Brutus is dancing to Hang on Sloopy and the ABC cameras picked me up kneeling behind him.  I played HS ball and had dreams of playing in college at that point. Great game and awesome day/weather for football.

Happy birthday! I hit the big 5-0, then the big 5-1. I’ve lost interest in all the sports I used to be fanatical about - except for CFB. That will be a life long addiction. There is no cure!

I remember when I hit 50 one of the elderly ladies that volunteer at the hospital heard it was my birthday and that I was acting out about it. She says, "Wait until you get to 80"

Suddenly, I didn't feel old at all.

Happy birthday!

This team is fucking good. It might be Beilein's best. And here's the thing, this team hangs its hat on defense and just figures it will grow into its offense. Defense wins championships and Michigan is demonstrating that on the football field and basketball court. This team is definitely Top Five. And will be there at the end. There is no in the league that can beat them. And we will take Carolina on Wednesday night. This will anoint our team as one of the best.

Just hit 50 this last May.

Not certain what happened. I'm pretty sure I was 20 about 15 minutes ago.

All you guys/gals in your mid-late 20s, get ready.

The next 25 years takes almost no time to pass.;

Hail to you Wolverine in Iowa.  Hope you are having a good weekend with your family.  Totally agree it's time.

Happy Belated Birthday !  Have no doubt you are still a young man !  (also a Tower of Power song from my day).
