Why do you hate MSU more than OSU?
I have read these boards for at least 3+ years and I can definitely say that the majority of folks here hate MSU more than OSU:
There are far more threads bashing MSU than OSU
When MSU plays OSU, more people want OSU to win
I am wondering why? As far as I can see OSU has done far more damage to UM than MSU has done over the years:
OSU has cost UM many great bowl game bids, Big 10 championships, rankings
OSU takes many great recruits that might have gone to UM (MSU doesn't seem to have had much of a chance with these kids)
OSU has thoroughly humiliated UM in many games (esp. RR and Hoke)
Some here will say "because its an in-state conference rivalry" but there are many of these in CFB that do NOT produce this level of hate: Miami/FL State, Northwestern/Illinois, Baylor/Texas, Cal/Stanford, Washington/WSU, etc.
I live in C-bus and don't understand why MSU is hated so much- enlighten me.

1. OSU (I would like to put them in all 5 spots)
2. MSU
3. Bama
4. Notre Dame

They earned that respect on the field. And for the sake of "The Game" always having national relevance, I never want the Buckeyes to fall off the face of the earth.
Doesn't mean I hate MSU though. I just feel like they don't know how to handle winning with professionalism. Look at Northwestern. Their climb in the mid-late 90s came at our expense a couple times. Never did their fans or their players act like assholes. The way Sparty handled their brief moment of success has me watching their downfall with two tubs of popcorn daily.
I don't think it's necessarily the teams as much as the obnoxious fans. Having moved out of state, neither tick me off as much as they used to.
OSU I have more respect for them and their fans. Anytime I run across a travelling fan from OSU in Missouri they've actually been incredibly respectful. Usually was able to carry on a reasonable conversation about the respective tems seasons etc. Can't say I've ran across many MSU fans outside of Michigan to be honest, living in Michigan they were generally overbearing and crass.
Now OSU fans in Ohio... lets just say I try to avoid the state when I can.
I definitely respect OSU more and I think that many of the OSU fans have respect back(the intelligent ones, or ones who got degrees there, not the cooler poopers).

You must have to live in the state of Michigan to hate State more. I only lived there for a couple years then was in NY, Iowa, and MN. I've never even considered MSU close to the same level as OSU. I'd say I hate ND more than MSU and even Penn State and Iowa more than MSU. State is just an annoyance the last few years.
The only people that hate MSU more, are likely the fans close in proximity to EL. I haven't lived in MI in 13 years. On a national level, I deal with OSU fans far more. I rarely see Sparty gear anywhere I go in the country and I travel for work. OSU fans/alumni are far more common and therefore far more obnoxious.

I dislike ALL things OSU. Fans, program, coaches, team, stadium, history....they can all get bent.
I don't mind MSU at all. In fact, the only thing I dislike about MSU is their delusional fanbase. Still walking around fully believing they'll beat Michigan and OSU this year and end up B1G champs again. They talk so much smack. They honestly think they're going to win the B1G and go to the playoffs. With 60 scholarship players and all 2-3 star walk-ons.
Also, they don't see ANY issues with giving M fans shit about back to back 10 win seasons when they just went 3-9. Then when you point that out, they talk about how this one time, they won the B1G. Then they ride OSU success against Michigan as if it were MSUs success.
I have daily contact with Sparty fans - as well family. This along with all the non stop Dantonio insufferable rhetoric (up till last year) had me hating them more. But its time to start beating osu again.
I hate Ohio States fans the most, easily. I'll be honest, I didn't even know MSU was a rival of U of M until the early to mid 90ies. Growing up in Ohio, whenever you heard Michigan, you heard Ohio state and visa versa. You never heard about MSU until the post Carr crater.
I feel like there was some general respect for OSU in the old days of Woody/Earle/Cooper; lost much of that during the Tressel years.
I lived in Michigan for a while after graduating and HATED having to deal with delusional Sparties everywhere. So glad I moved to Illinois, where there's no majority of fans (unless Illini have success, which is rare). Would imagine living in Ohio is pretty rough too.
Always disliked ND and it's holier than thou attitude. That will probably always be No. 1 on my list, even though program isn't a consistent power any more
It's like asking if I hate cancer more than mosquitoes.
Of course I hate cancer more, but those mosquitoes are always around me and bugging me constantly. So it's big picture vs small picture.
Nice analogy. We must think about eradicating MSU now so we can deal with OSU later.
